Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of ferrous metallurgy, specifically to the production of composite ingots for welding wires.
31.10.1978]. A known method of manufacturing a composite welding wire, in which the steel pipe is filled with powder flux, and then immersed in a mold with molten metal. The molten metal hardens around a steel tube that is pre-sealed to prevent the escape of gases in the ingot. Then, the hardened ingot is removed from the mold and pulled to obtain a welding wire [Japanese Application No. 53-41103. A method of manufacturing a composite welding wire. Published 10/31/1978].
The disadvantages of this method include the fact that when introducing mixtures (ceramic fluxes, etc.) containing several components with different densities, there is an uneven distribution of them along the height of the ingot due to sedimentation separation. At the same time, the introduction of fused (or ceramic) welding fluxes into the ingot (the melting temperature of most of which is significantly lower than the steel casting temperature) is accompanied by their melting, which entails a decrease in the volume filled with the fluxing reagent. Consequently, part of the ingot (rolling of the welding wire) will be without a flux core. In addition, during the melting of flux components, volatile substances can be released (for example, the interaction of calcium fluoride and silicon oxide is accompanied by the release of SiF 4 ), which can lead to rupture of the insulating shell of the composite insert and metal emissions from the ingot.
Closest to the claimed is a composite ingot [Prototype. SU 19600, USSR. A method of manufacturing a bimetallic wire. L.E. Miller. MKI B 22 D 19/00, 03/31/1931], containing an axisymmetric insert located in the axial zone of the ingot over its entire height. The resulting design of the ingot does not allow a clear dosing of microalloying additives, usually used for microalloying steel. There is no cavity volume in the ingot for introducing the characteristic amounts of fluxing additives necessary for organizing the protection of the weld pool with an insulating flux and / or alloying elements for alloying and deoxidizing the weld metal, as well as for bonding other dissolved gases both when welding in shielding gases and open arc (in the air).
The objective of the invention is to improve the design of the composite ingot by introducing an insulating composite-forming insert of certain sizes in cross section and separation of its internal volume. Such an improvement allows introducing into the cavity (s) of the insert into the ingot (and, further, the wire) one- or multicomponent additives, which allow for alloying of the weld seam and / or the formation of a flux crust during wire welding and / or the bonding of dissolved in metal and assimilable from surrounding the arc of the atmosphere of gases (oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen) into compounds of favorable morphology.
This object is achieved in that, in contrast to the known composite ingots made of iron-carbon or nickel alloys, including microalloyed alloys, according to the invention, a vertical axisymmetric composite insert is placed in the axial zone to the height of the ingot body, forming one or more isolated cavities filled with alloying elements and / or fluxing compositions, wherein the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the insert and the ingot is 0.015-0.45. Sector or coaxial separation of the internal volume of the cavity of the composite insert provides a separate input of components of welding fluxes or other materials in order to prevent the formation of fusible eutectics during heating and alloying, gas evolution and / or sedimentation separation of powders with different densities.
The increase in the cross-sectional area of the axial cavity in comparison with the prototype is due to the need to introduce fluxing and doping additives in the ingot axial zone of the ingot wire in an amount sufficient to protect the weld pool from air and / or alloying, as well as the binding of gases (oxygen and nitrogen) weld metal. The added additives are not distributed over the entire volume of the ingot, but are concentrated in a cavity extended over the entire height of the ingot body. This ensures the input of a precisely specified number of alloying and / or fluxing additives in each section of the ingot and, further, along the length of the wire.
The limits of the relationship between the cross-sectional areas of the axial cavity and the total cross-section of the ingot, which are then stored in the welding wire, are selected based on the following considerations: when the cross-sectional area of the insert is less than 0.01 cross-section of the ingot, the required thickness of the insulating shell forming the cavity exceeds its radius, which is substantially increases the cost of the composite insert. In addition, with an increase in the temperature of casting of metal by 15-20 degrees or more, there is a loss of structural heat resistance of the insert, which leads to the displacement of the composite insert by the flows in the ingot and entails a high probability of the insert entering the wire surface and precipitation of the additive during rolling and drawing. In addition, it is impossible to introduce additives of alloying elements into inserts of such sizes in an amount that ensures alloying (from 0.2% of the element) of the weld. Due to the low density of flux components (up to 1.5 kg / m 3 ), the amount placed in a cavity of such dimensions is insufficient for organizing metallurgical processing and slag protection of the weld pool.
When the ratio of the cross-sectional areas is more than 0.45, partial fusion of the composite insert shell with the metal of the liquid core of the ingot can occur and, due to the high crystallization rate of the liquid metal of the ingot matrix, defects appear that reduce the metallurgical quality of the ingot (deep shrinkage shell and pronounced shrinkage porosity, crystallization cracks) and making it difficult to process into billets and, further, wire.
To confirm the feasibility and practicability of applying the invention in laboratory conditions, a comparative analysis of the metallurgical quality of steel ingots obtained according to the invention and the prototype was carried out (see table). Welding wire was obtained from ingots of laboratory smelting. Metal (Sv-08G2S steel) was cast into a mold with a volume of 260 cm 3 (ingot body weight 2 kg) with composite inserts pre-installed in it. The ingot was redistributed by rolling or isostatic pressing into a circle with a diameter of 25 mm and then dragged onto a wire with a diameter of 2 mm.
The technical and economic efficiency of the use of composite ingots with powder inserts for the production of welding wires consists in reducing the consumption of alloying elements, since there is no waste of additives introduced into the composite insert (zero). The application of the proposed composite ingot will significantly expand the capabilities of metallurgical production in ensuring both the variety of the range and the high quality of welding wires.
