Способ снижения шума выхлопа двигателя внутреннего сгорания, заключающийся в том, что каждую исходную массовую волну расхода выхлопных газов преобразуют в несколько массовых волн расхода меньшей величины, отличающийся тем, вдоль продольной оси глушителя формируется последовательная система тороидальных вихрей, имеющих внутреннее давление, близкое к среднему значению истекающих газов, в момент прохождения импульса давления вихрь вбирает в себя часть выхлопных газов с давлением выше давления в вихре, тем самым обеспечивая свое вращение, в дальнейшем вихрь возвращает ее в основной поток в момент спада давления и обеспечивает выравнивание давления по тракту выпуска.1.
