Abstract
Se describe un metodo para reducir y prevenir las emisiones de mercurio al medio ambiente a partir de combustibles fosiles quemados o de gases que tienen mercurio con el uso de hipoyodito. El hipoyodito se utiliza para la captura de mercurio de los gases de combustion resultantes utilizando un sistema de desulfuracion de gases de combustion o un depurador. El metodo utiliza hipoyodito junto con un depurador para capturar el mercurio y disminuir su emision y/o reemision con gases de chimenea. El metodo permite el uso del carbon como fuente de combustible mas limpia y mas respetuosa con el medio ambiente, asi como la captura de mercurio de otros sistemas de procesamiento
