Description

Den foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører et koplingselement til forsegling av en lednings eller et rørs endeparti, av den i den innledende del av krav 1 angitte type.
Oppfinnelsen vedrører også anvendelse av to slike koplingselementer for frembringelse av en tettsluttende og fortrinnsvis steril forbindelse mellom endepartiene av et par ledninger eller rør.
Fra US-patentskrift 4.157.723 er det kjent et koplingselement som er innrettet til å frembringe en fortrinnsvis steril forbindelse mellom endene på rør eller ledninger, f.eks. ledninger som står i forbindelse med blodposer. Etter en forsegling er det følgelig garantert en steril forbindelse, og porsjoner av f.eks. blod, blodkomponenter eller andre medisinske stoffer kan uttas fra en første beholder og anbringes i en annen beholder på steril måte, etter at forbindelsen er opprettet og en forseglet sammenkopling er frembrakt ved å utsette deler av koplingselementet for strålingsenergi, slik som beskrevet i oven-nevnte patentskrift.
Formålet med den foreliggende oppfinnelse er å oppnå for-bedringer med henblikk på en økt bekvemmelighet og pålitelighet i forbindelse med fremstilling og bruk.
Koplingselementet ifølge oppfinnelsen er kjennetegnet ved
at den smeltbare vegg løper skrått over det indre hulrom og danner en spiss med passasjens akse.
Tilkoplingsinnretningen omfatter fortrinnsvis sporavgrensende gripearmorganer som er anbrakt på den ene side av hvert koplingselement og flensorganer på den annen side.
Passasjen, som som oftest er et ledningsorgan, kan være anbrakt inrie i et fleksibelt rør, og har fortrinnsvis en lukket, skjør endevegg med en bruddannende del som rager utad fra den lukkete endevegg. Manuell bøyning av den utadragende del kan følgelig frembringe brudd i endeveggen og derved muliggjøre en åpning av ledningens ytre ende.
Oppfinnelsen vil bli nærmere forklart i det etterfølgende under henvisning til de medfølgende tegninger, hvor: Fig. 1 viser et sideriss av to koplingselementer av den aktuelle type før disse sammenføyes til et forseglet koplingsorgan. Fig. 2 viser et vertikalt snitt gjennom et koplingsorgan fremstilt av de separate koplingselementer i fig. 1. Fig. 3 viser et langsgående snitt gjennom et av koplingselementene i fig. 2. Det henvises til fig. 1-5 som viser et koplingsorgan 10 som er fremstilt av koplingselementer 12, 14 lignende type. Hvert av de to koplingselementer 12, 14 omfatter et hult hus 16 med en første absorpsjonsevne for strålingsenergi hvis hule indre 20 kan forsegles fra omgivelsene.
En del av veggen i hvert hus omfatter en veggdel 22 som atskiller husets hule indre 20 fra omgivelsene og som har en andre absorpsjonsevne for strålingsenergi, som er større enn den første absorpsjonsevne. Hver veggdel er forseglet til den resterende del av det tilhørende transparente hus langs veggdelens 22 omkrets.
Hvert koplingselements 12, 14 hus 16 er innrettet til å sammenføyes med huset på det tilsvarende koplingselement med de respektive veggdeler 22 anbrakt i flatekontakt med hverandre slik som vist i fig. 2 og med veggdelene holdt i tettsluttende og"fastholdt tilstand. Ved å utsette de således sammenføyete hus for strålingsenergi på tilsvarende måte som beskrevet i oven-nevnte US-patentskrift 4.157.723 kan veggdelene som er i berøring med hverandre følgelig smelte sammen og danne en gjennomgående åpning.
Veggdelene 22, som har nevnte andre absorpsjonsevne for strålingsenergi, er fortrinnsvis fremstilt av et organisk, termo-plastisk materiale, fortrinnsvis et materiale med en høy smelte-eller mykningstemperatur, slik at enhver form for bakterier som oppholder seg på veggdelenes utvendige flater, blir drept når de utsettes for veggdelens smelte- eller mykningstemperatur,
og dessuten blir slike bakterier innfanget i den smeltede masse. Spesielt kan veggdelen 22 være fremstilt av et polykarbonat-materiale, såsom "Lexan", eller av andre termoplastiske materi-aler, fortrinnsvis med høyt smeltepunkt.
Den termoplastiske veggdel 22 inneholder vanligvis et fyll-stoff, såsom pulverisert trekull, aktivt kull eller carbon-black, for å bibringe veggdelen nevnte andre absorpsjonsevne, men andre ønskelige fyllstoffer som kan absorbere den type strålingsenergi som skal benyttes, kan anvendes som erstatning for karbon.
De viste hus 16 er fremstilt av et høytsmeltende plast-materiale, såsom Lexan.
Strålingsenergien kan tilføres til systemet i form av syn-lig eller klart strålende, infrarød, ultrafiolett eller radio-frekvent energi etter ønske. Uttrykket "andre absorpsjonsevne" innebærer at veggdelen er innrettet til å absorbere en forholds-vis høy prosentandel av den aktuelle strålingsenergi som veggdelen utsettes for. Uttrykket "første absorpsjonsevne" innebærer at en mindre prosentandel av den tilførte strålingsenergi absor-beres. Fokusert infrarød strålingsenergi er særlig hensiktsmessig å anvende. Dersom det er ønskelig kan laserstråler også anvendes for frembringelse av strålingsenergien.
Veggdelene 22 kan være forspent ved uniaksial eller bi-aksial orientering, eller med radiale spenningsmønstre for å fremme dannelsen av en midtre åpning når veggdelene smeltes sammen. Spenningsfrie veggdeler kan også anvendes, idet dannelsen av den midtre åpning foregår ved kohesjon under den varme-myknende bestrålingsoperasjon.
Hvert av koplingselementene 12, 14 er utstyrt med innretninger til fastholdelse av det annet koplingselement. Disse fast-holdelsesinnretninger omfatter to motstående gripearmer 24, som er anbrakt ved en første ende 26 av huset 16 og som avgrenser et spor 28 til fastholdelse av en flens, som er anbrakt i dette spor.
To motstående flenser 30 er tilsvarende anbrakt ved husets 16 annen ende 32. Hver av flensene 30 og de av gripearmene 24 dannete spor 28 er parallelle med veggdelen 22. Sporenes 28 bredde er dimensjonert slik at den er minst like stor som flen-senes 30 bredde, slik at flensene 30 på det motstående koplingselement 12 eller 14 kan passe inn i sporene i gripearmene 24, mens flensene 30 på det første koplingselement kan passe inn i sporene i gripearmene 24 på det motstående koplingselement. Koplingselementene kan således holdes tettsluttende sammen til et koplingsorgan som vist i fig. 2 og med veggdelene 22 i anlegg mot hverandre.
De respektive koplingselementer sammenføyes ved at de skyves sammen i en retning som er parallell med planet for veggdelene 22. Følgelig vil tilfeldige krefter, som forsøker å trekke koplingselementene fra hverandre, ikke kunne frembringe noen som helst atskillelse, idet den eneste mulighet for en innbyrdes bevegelse av elementene ligger i planet for sporene 28 og flensene 30.
Egnete fortanninger kan være anordnet for å bringe koplingselementene 12, 14 til å lukke sammen ved sneppertvirkning for å hindre at koplingselementene atskilles til separate komponenter etter at de er blitt sammenføyet.
Etter sammenføyningen kan koplingselementene bestråles
med fokusert infrarød stråling eller liknende i et ønsket tids-rom. Når det f.eks. anvendes to motstående 150 watt Sylvania-lamper med elliptisk reflektor (modell DJL), kan det fokuserte infrarøde lys tilføres i ca. 5 sekunder for effektivt å danne en åpning gjennom de to veggdeler 22 og samtidig bringe disse til å smelte sammen rundt åpningen for å frembringe en forseglet strømningsbane mellom det hule indre 20 i de respektive koplings-
elementer 12, 14. Dersom det er ønskelig kan lampen drives med mindre enn 150 watt ved bruk av én lavere spenning for å redu-sere strålingsintensiteten.
Hvert koplingselement'er også utstyrt med en ledning 34 som kan være utformet i ett med huset 16. I den viste utførel-sesform har ledningen 34 en akse som løper langs planet for den fastgjorte veggdel 22.
Ledningen 34 anbringes fortrinnsvis tettsluttende i et fleksibelt rør 36, som på sin side kan stå i forbindelse med en forseglet beholder 38, såsom en blodpose, en beholder for parenteral oppløsning eller liknende. Når koplingselementene 12, 14 er sammenføyet og bestrålt, kan det følgelig åpnes en steril forbindelse "mellom to beholdere 38 med henblikk på over-føring av fluider mellom beholderne.
Det henvises nå til fig. 8-13 som viser en utførelsesform av koplingselementet ifølge oppfinnelsen.
Fig. 8-13 viser to koplingselementer 60, 62 hvilke, på tilsvarende måte som ovenfor, omfatter et hus 64 med en første absorpsjonsevne for strålingsenergi samt en smeltbar vegg 66
med en andre absorpsjonsevne som er større enn den første absorpsjonsevne, og som ved sin omkrets er forseglet til det transparente hus 64 på en måte som svarer til den ovenfor beskrevne konstruksj on.
Hvert koplingselement bærer innretninger for å holde husene 64 sammen. Innretningene omfatter to motstående gripearmer 68 ved en første ende 70 av huset, og disse armer avgrenser et spor
72 til opptakelse av en flens 74, som svarer til flensene 30
i den ovenfor beskrevne konstruksjon, på det koplingselement som det skal dannes forbindelse med.
Flensene 74 er
anbrakt ved hvert hus' 64 annen ende 76, og flensene 74 er innrettet til å kunne skyves inn i og holdes fast i et spor 72 som er avgrenset av gripearmene på et annet koplingselement,
med henblikk på å låse de to koplingselementer sammen med de respektive vegger 66 liggende mot hverandre som vist i fig. 10.
Fortanninger 78, 80 er anordnet slik at de respektive koplingselementer 60, 62 etter sammenskyvingen bare med vanske-lighet kan trekkes fra hverandre igjen ved alminnelig bruk,
hvor koplingselementene for å sikre sterilitet er beregnet til å skulle holdes permanent sammen gjennom deres bruksperiode etter sammenføyningen.
I ett med hvert koplingselement 60, 62 er det utformet
en ledning 84 hvis akse ifølge oppfinnelsen danner en spiss vinkel med planet for den tilhørende veggdel 66. Som vist har ledningens 84 ytre ende en lukket endevegg 86 med et tynnere, skjørt område, som kan være ringformet. En fremspringende del 90 løper utad fra den lukkete endevegg, slik at en manuell bøyning av den utadragende del 90 kan frembringe brudd i endeveggen 86 og derved muliggjøre åpning av ledningens 84
ytre ende.
Som i den første omtalte konstruksjon kan hver ledning
84 være innsatt tettsluttende i et fleksibelt rør 36a, som står i forbindelse med en forseglet beholder 38, såsom en blodpose. Følgelig muliggjør en manuell manipulering av det fleksible rør 3 6a og av den fremspringende del 90 at det fremkalles brudd i enden 86 av hver ledning 84 for derved å åpne koplingselementene 60, 62, etter at disse er sammenføyet med hverandre til et koplingsorgan som vist i fig. 10.
Når begge koplingselementer har skjøre, forseglete ender
86 på deres respektive ledninger 84, er det ofte hensiktsmessig å åpne den ene av disse før bestrålingsoperasjonen. I så fall vil luft som befinner seg i det forseglete kammer 94 inne i huset 64 og i ledningen 84 utvide seg under oppvarmingen og derved bevirke en trykkforskjell tvers over veggene 66 under bestrålings-trinnet. Dette vil på sin side medvirke til revning av veggene 66 når disse blir svakere og smelter, til dannelse av en fortrinnsvis steril og forseglet forbindelse mellom de to koplingselementer 60, 62.
Dersom det er ønskelig er det bare nødvendig at det ene koplingselement har forseglete endevegger 86 med en utadragende del 90. Claims (8)

1. Koplingselement (60) til forsegling av en lednings eller et rørs (36a) endeparti, og utstyrt med tilkoplingsinnretninger (72,74) for eventuell tilkopling av et annet koplingselement, hvor koplingselementet omfatter et hus (64) med vegger fremstilt av et materiale som har en første absorpsjonsevne for strålingsenergi og som omslutter et indre hulrom (94), hvor huset er utstyrt med en passasje (84) som står i forbindelse med det indre hulrom og som. er innrettet til å kommunisere med rørets eller ledningens endeparti og hvor huset dessuten omfatter en smeltbar vegg (66) som er fremstilt av et materiale med en andre absorpsjonsevne for strålingsenergi større enn den første absorpsjonsevne og som normalt stenger for det indre hulroms forbindelse med atmosfæren og danner en åpning gjennom den smeltbare vegg når den utsettes for strålingsenergi som er tilstrekkelig til å smelte veggen, karakterisert ved at den smeltbare vegg (66) løper skrått over det indre hulrom (94) og danner en spiss vinkel med passasjens (84) akse.
2. Koplingselement i samsvar med krav 1, hvor tilkoplingsinnretningene er utformet for sammenføyning av elementet (60) med et tilsvarende andre element (62) med de respektive skråttløpende vegger (66) i flatekontakt for å blokkere strømningskommunikasjon mellom de respektive passasjer (84) gjennom de indre hulrom (94) og som reaksjon på tilførsel av strålingsenergi å smelte veggene som står i flatekontakt med hverandre og danne en felles åpning i hver av de skråttløpende vegger (66) til dannelse av strømnings-kommunikas j on mellom de respektive passasjer gjennom de forbun-dete indre hulrom, karakterisert ved at tilkoplingsinnretningene er innrettet til å bevirke at koplingselementet (60) kan skyves sammen med det andre koplingselement (62) i en retning som er stort sett parallell med den smeltbare vegg til en stilling i forhold til hverandre hvor de to koplingselementer blir holdt sammen som ett koplingslegeme.
3. Koplingselement i samsvar med krav 2, karakterisert ved at tilkoplingsinnretningene omfatter sporavgrensende gripearmorganer (68) anbrakt ved en første ende (70) av huset, og flensorganer (74) anbrakt ved husets annen ende (76), idet flensorganene og de av gripearmorganene avgrensete spor (72) er parallelle med den smeltbare vegg (66) og bredden på hvert spor er minst like stor som flensorganenes bredde.
4. Koplingselement i samsvar med krav 3, karakterisert ved at de sporavgrensende gripearmorganer omfatter et par motstående gripearmer (68) som avgrenser sporet (72) mellom seg.
5. Koplingselement i samsvar med krav 3 eller 4, karakterisert ved at flensorganene omfatter to motstående, rettlinjete flenskanter (74).
6. Koplingselement i samsvar med et av kravene 1-5, karakterisert ved at passasjen er et ledningsorgan (84) som er lukket av en skjør vegg (86) som bærer et bruddannende organ (90).
7. Koplingselement i samsvar med krav 6, karakterisert ved at i det minste en del av ledningsorganet (84) er anbrakt tettsluttende i et fleksibelt rør (36a) som står i forbindelse med en forseglet beholder, såsom en blodpose.
8. Anvendelse av to koplingselementer ifølge et av kravene 1-7, for frembringelse av en tettsluttende og fortrinnsvis steril forbindelse mellom endepartiene av et par ledninger eller rør.
