Abstract

The hydraulic shock absorber has a pair of components telescoping together, forming a first chamber connected via a passage, shut off by a valve, to a second one so that on telescoping together fluid flows from the first to the second. A spring acts on the valve, thrusting it into the shut position, and as the components telescope together the force exerted by the spring increases. The spring can act between the valve and a stop on one of the components. In the first component a tube can be mounted (3), with the passage (19) near one end, while the other end is openly connected to the inside of the second component.
