Abstract
1,057,455. Pneumatic damper. GIRLING Ltd. Oct. 5, 1965 [Aug. 19, 1964], No. 33793/64. Heading F2S. A telescopic pneumatic damper comprises two coaxial telescopic tubes 10, 11, one of which contains an axially movable inertia mass 19, and the inner end of the tube which telescopes into the other being closed except for one or more restricted orifices. The inertia mass 19 is also provided with a restricted orifice and is mounted on a coil spring 21 which is not of sufficient strength to effect the characteristics of the inertia mass in its action as a damper. The damper can be run at atmosphere pressure or it may be pressurized.
