Abstract

The mechanism is for use with a strip of material equipped with a manipulating edge and divided into individual pouches and folded lengthwise, having belts running over rollers and engaging with the strip on both sides, and grips forming the opening and engaging on the inside of the manipulating edge on both sides, their length being less than that of the filler openings of the individual pouches, so that the edges are gripped between them and the belts. The belts are spring-mounted on one side and in fixed mountings on the other. Each grip has on the outlet side a cover bearing against the side of the individual pouch, and the position and minimum width of this corresponds to the weld seam subsequently to be formed. The cover can be of individual leaf springs, or a U-section hood covering the top of the belt and pivoting on the grab.
