Abstract

1393340 Sealing device for web treatment chamber KLEINEWEFERS INDUSTRIE COMPANIE GmbH 30 Nov 1973 [20 Dec 1972] 55691/73 Addition to 1328930 Heading D1L The sealing device of the parent Specification 1328930 is improved by the provision of an anti-friction foil sheet (e.g. of nickel alloy or provided with a nickel or nickel alloy coating) between the endless elastic sealing strip and the draw roller to protect both the strip and the web of material passing between the strip and the roller. As illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 the aperture 37 in the foil sheet 19 through which the web 11 passes into a treatment chamber is preferably formed by cutting and folding a central tab from the sheet, one longitudinal portion 21 of the sheet 19 being inserted between one longitudinal portion 8a of the sealing strip and the roller 15 and mounted via fastening means 39 passing through holes 32 provided in a portion 36 of the folded tab, the other longitudinal portion 20 of the sheet 19 being mounted between the other longitudinal portion 86 of the strip via fastening means 38 passing through holes 31 in this sheet portion 20. The edge portions 22 and 23 of the sheet are mounted to conform the surface of the roller 15. A second identical sealing strip 8' and anti-friction foil 19' may be provided on the upstream side of the draw roller 15, the sealing strips 8 and 8' being mounted on rigid hoods which form between them an intermediate chamber (14) through which the web 11 passes in its travel to the treatment chamber [see also Fig. 1, not shown].
