Abstract

1339696 Stamping-out apparatus RODER & SPENGLER oHG 15 May 1972 [19 May 1971 16 Nov 1971] 22773/72 Heading B4B An apparatus for stamping-out shapes from sheet material 12 comprises a table 8 for supporting the material and the cutters 11 and a pressure roller or rollers 5 mounted on a carrier 4 which is pivotable about an axis 24. The pressure roller 5 is made up of separate rollers 6 mounted on a shaft 10 carried by the carrier 4 which may be raised or lowered by a handwheel 25 in order to vary the pressure on the material or adjust for various thicknesses thereof; the carrier is pivoted by means of a chain drive 14 and piston-and-cylinder device 15. The carrier may be moved manually by a handle 16. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the pair of rollers 6 are replaced by a tapered roller 5a; a pair of cylindrical rollers (6b), Fig. 8 (not shown), may be mounted, one on each side of the tapered roller, each roller being resiliently mounted in order that a gradual pressure is applied to the material during cutting. In the construction shown in Fig. 10, the table is formed from a sheet of flexible material, e.g. of steel, held at its ends in frame members (17c), Fig. 11 (not shown). A tapered roller 5c is mounted in a carrier 18c which is supported at its outer end during a stamping operation by means of a gear 22c running on a toothed rack (23c), Fig. 11 (not shown). The cutting-out pressure is resisted by a pivoted arm 4c which is normally stationary during cutting; the arm may be swung out-of-the-way by means of a handle 16c to facilitate the placing of the material and cutters on the table; the tapered roller 5c may be replaced by a cylindrical roller (5d), Fig. 12 (not shown), made up of separate disc-like rollers (6d). In the construction shown in Fig. 14, the pivoted arm 4e is provided with a tapered roller instead of the flat back-up surface 9c shown in Fig. 10. The rollers may be a synthetic plastics material, e.g. unplasticized P.V.C. (For Figures see next page.)
