Abstract

The bicycle is of the type having a seat (1) with support for the small of the back. The seat is arranged at normal chair height between, and a little above, the centres of the wheels (2, 6). The crank shaft (4) is carried in the frame (5) at a point forward of the front wheel (6). The transmission, which may consist of a chain (10) passes over the front wheel and under the seat to drive the rear wheel (2). The arrangement is such that the legs of the rider extend approximately horizontally over the handlebars and the reaction for the pedal forces is provided by the backrest.
