[PROBLEM] TO PROVIDE A PRETREATMENT METHOD THAT CAN REALIZE THE COLLECTION OF A SACCHARIDE FROM A BIOMASS CONTAINING BOTH A CELLULOSE AND A STARCH WITH HIGH EFFICIENCY, AND A SACCHARIFICATION METHOD USING THE PRETREATMENT METHOD. [MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM] THE PRETREATMENT METHOD, FOR BIOMASS SACCHARIFICATION, CARRIED OUT AT A STAGE PRIOR TO THE SACCHARIFICATION OF A BIOMASS CONTAINING BOTH A CELLULOSE AND A STARCH AND IS CHARACTERIZED IN THAT THE BIOMASS IS HEAT-TREATED AT A TEMPERATURE OF 60°C TO 115°C WITHOUT ACID TREATMENT, AND THE METHOD FOR BIOMASS SACCHARIFICATION COMPRISES SACCHARIFYING A BIOMASS CONTAINING A CELLULOSE AND A STARCH WITH A DIASTATIC ENZYME CHARACTERIZED IN THAT THE BIOMASS IS HEAT-TREATED AT A TEMPERATURE OF 60°C TO 115°C WITHOUT ACID TREATMENT PRIOR TO THE SACCHARIFICATION OF THE BIOMASS.
