Abstract
Se describe un portador de registro de capas multiples para registrar informacion escribiendo marcas que representan bloques direccionables en una pista. Cada capa de registro tiene un patron de control de registro preformado para indicar la pista, el patron comprende las direcciones fisicas (59) que indican la posicion fisica de la direccion fisica con respecto a un punto de inicio de la pista. El numero predefinido de bits de la direccion fisica indica la posicion fisica con respecto a un punto de inicio de la pista. Por lo menos un bit de direccion del numero predefinido de bits de direccion de la direccion fisica se asigna como un bit de direccion de capa (60) que tiene un valor que indica la capa de registro. Un dispositivo de registro tiene una unidad de capa (34) para detectar una capa de registro en dependencia del bit de direccion de capa.
