Abstract
La presente invencion se refiere a un método y aparato para mejorar el desempeño de sistemas de codificacion en la presencia de borrados de cuadro o paquetes perdidos. La señal codificada se modifica después de la transmision pero antes de ser decodificada por un procesador decodificador. El preprocesador reconoce que un cuadro determinado es corrompido y modifica la señal codificada, de manera tal que su decodificacion resultará en un desempeño mejorado del sistema de codificacion. Específicamente, con base en el proceso de codificacion y en una señal objetivo predeterminada, la señal codificada se modifica de manera tal que su decodificacion generará una aproximacion a la señal objetivo. En una primera modalidad ilustrativa, se emplea un codificador de habla CELP y la señal objetivo es una señal de excitacion que comprende vectores de excitacion todos cero. En este caso, la porcion de los índices de señal de excitacion corrupta que identifican los factores de ganancia correspondientes se ajustan a valores que representan un factor de baja ganancia. En una segunda modalidad ilustrativa, un codificador da habla CELP se emplea y la señal objetivo comprende una extrapolacion de la señal de excitacion representada por la señal codificada para uno o más cuadros previos. En este caso, el procesador codifica la señal de excitacion extrapolada utilizando los mejores ajustes del libro de codigos disponible. En cualquier caso, el efecto de cuadros corruptos en la señal de habla reconstruida se minimiza.
