Abstract
Un método para fabricar una rótula de acoplador de vagones de ferrocarril incluye, antes de la fundición, posicionar un cristalizador externo dentro de una porción superior y una porción inferior de molde que se desplaza desde una pared interna adyacente de una cara de tracción y una garganta de las porciones superior e inferior de molde, produciendo así una fundición con micro-encogimiento en al menos la garganta, una sección de alto estrés de la fundición; el uso de cristalizadores de subsuperficie produce una superficie mejorada con menos inclusiones cuando se le compara con una superficie equivalente producida en un procedimiento sin el uso de un cristalizador de subsuperficie; el cristalizador externo puede ser un cristalizador de cono de un tamaño más grande para mejorar el enfriamiento y la solidificación en y por debajo de la superficie; el cristalizador externo también puede ser un cristalizador cilíndrico y/u oblongo con un diseño ahusado que puede corresponder con las paredes internas de las porciones superior e inferior de molde entre la cara de tracción y la garganta.
