Abstract

Se describen espumas rígidas de poliuretano o poliisocianurato, polioles de poliéster usados para producirlas, y métodos para formular las espumas. Las espumas comprenden un producto de reacción de un poliisocianato, un poliol de poliéster, agua, un surfactante, un catalizador e ingredientes opcionales. Los polioles de poliéster comprenden un poliácido que contiene ftalimida, un poliol que contiene ftalimida, o una de sus combinaciones. Las espumas rígidas producidas a partir de polioles de poliéster muestran una mayor estabilidad térmica y/o mayor intumescencia cuando se comparan con las espumas preparadas a partir de otros polioles de poliéster. Los polioles de poliéster que contienen ftalimida deben permitir que los formuladores mejoren el rendimiento de inflamabilidad de las espumas rígidas con niveles reducidos de retardadores de la llama y/o índice más bajo y deben facilitar la producción de paneles de aislamiento más finos.
