Description

PACKAGE FOR ARTICLES FOR SMOKING Description The present invention relates to a package for smoking articles.
Smoking articles such as cigarettes are normally stored in packages, to the overall function of the packages are to store and protect the cigarettes against mechanical and environmental damage. Various configurations of the cigarette packs are known from the prior art including articulated lid and shell packs with sliding inserts. An articulated lid package comprises a body and a lid defining a space for containing a pack of smoking articles. The lid is attached to a back panel of the body along a fold line so that it can rotate between an open and closed position. In a closed position of a lower edge of a front wall of the lid abuts an upper edge of a front panel of the body in order to create a flush exterior finish. The front wall of the lid is typically formed with a tongue folded around a fold line aligned with the bottom edge of the front wall of the lid to form a double layer to provide strength and prevent bowing of the lid as well as being Start or open the general package in which the lower edge of the front wall of the lid is not near the upper edge of the front panel of the body of the next repeated package of opening and closing the package.
Generally, the closing line between the front wall of the lid and the front panel of the body is straight and extends parallel to the fold line on which the package lid rotates. However, it is known from US6457580 to provide a package for smoking articles in which the closing line of the front wall of the lid and the front panel of the body is curved.
One problem with the package having a curved lower lid edge is that it is difficult to provide a double layer of the front wall of the lid with a tongue as described above, because in contrast to the conventional articulated lid package when the The tongue easily folds over the fold line aligned with the straight bottom edge of the front wall of the lid, it is impossible to fold the tongue around a curved edge.
US6457580 provides a package with a curved lower lid edge and attempts to overcome the aforementioned problem by providing the lower lid edge with a straight or linear portion to which the tab is attached along a straight fold line and which it extends between curved sections of the lower edge of the lid. The closing line in this way comprises two straight and curved sections. In the known package from US6457580 the crease line is formed by providing a crease between the edge of the lower flap and the flap. However, a fold does not always guarantee that the tongue will fold exactly over the fold line and therefore may create a misalignment or a step relative to the lower curved edges of the bottom wall of the lid to which the tongue is not united that results in an appearance that is not visually accepted.
The present invention aims to provide a package for containing smoking articles that overcomes or substantially solves the aforementioned problems.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a package for smoking articles comprising a lid and a body formed of a material having a thickness, the lid having a front wall with a front edge of the bottom wall and a tongue attached to it. a lower portion of said edge of the front wall by a fold line, at least a part of said fold line is formed by the partial cut through the thickness of the material so that, when the tongue is folded around said line As well as to lean against an inner surface of the front wall of the lid, said portion of the lower front edge of the wall to which the tongue is attached is aligned with the rest of the front edge of the bottom wall.
Preferably, the cut extends continuously along said portion of said lower edge of the front wall.
In one embodiment, the cut extends partially along said portion of said lower edge of the front wall.
Conveniently, the fold line of said portion may be linear and the rest of the front edge of the bottom wall may be curved.
The edge portion of the lower front wall to which the tongue is attached may be located between the edge sections of the curved lower front wall.
In one embodiment, the body comprises an upper edge having a profile similar to the leading edge of the lower wall of the lid so that when the package is in a closed position, the upper edge of the body and the lower front edge of the wall they are contiguous.
Preferably, the upper edge of the body and the edge of the lower front wall form a closing line having a curve and a linear section.
Conveniently, the cut is formed by punctuation.
According to another aspect of the invention, there is also a blank space to form the aforementioned invention.
The embodiments of the present invention will now be described by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a package for maintaining a package of smoking articles according to the present invention; Figure 2 shows a blank space to form the packet in Figure 1; Y Figure 3 shows a blank space to form an interior frame to be inserted in the package of Figures 1 and 2.
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown in Figure 1 a package for maintaining a package of smoking articles in accordance with the present invention. Figure 2 shows a blank space to form the package in Figure 1, where the solid lines indicate cut lines or outer edges of the blank 20 and the dotted lines indicate the lines that are formed by folding. The package 1 comprises a body 2 and a lid 9 having a closing line 8. The closing line 8 between a lower edge of the lid and an upper edge of the package body has curved regions separated from each other by a straight central portion. or linear.
The body 2 of the box 1 is formed with opposite front and rear panels 3, 4 separated by two opposite left and right side panels 21a, 21b. The corners 7 formed in the joints of the front panel 3 and the side panels 21a, 21b can be rounded. The front part 3 and the side panels 21a, 21b are formed with upper edges 5 abutting corresponding lower edges 15 of the cover 9 so as to form the closing line 8 as will become apparent from the following description. It will also become apparent from Figure 2 that the body 2 is formed with a base panel 10.
With reference to figures 1 and 2, the body 2 is connected to a rear wall 14 of the cover 9 along a fold line 11. The cover 9 is further provided with an upper wall 12, which extends between the rear wall 14, a front wall 13 and left and right side walls 16 of the lid 9. The front part 13 and the side walls 16 of the lid 9 are formed with the lower edges 15 which engage the upper edges 5 of the body 2 when package 1 is closed. As can be seen in figure 1 of the lower and upper edges 15, of 5 respective front wall 13 of the cover 9 and the front panel 3 of the body 2, forming said closing line 8.
In Figure 2, it can be seen that the blank 20 is of elongated shape and comprises the body 2 and the cover 9 of the box 1 described above. The body 2 of the blank 20 is formed with the front panel 3, the base panel 10 and the rear panel 4. The front panel 3 comprises the left and right part of the wall 21a, 21b which overlap the tabs 22a, 22b extending from the rear panel 4 when the blank 20 is in a folded position. The dashed lines of the blank portion located between the front wall 3 and its side walls 21a, 21b as shown in Figure 2 indicate that the corners formed when the blank is folded are rounded.
The cover 9 of the blank part 20 further comprises the rear wall 14, the upper wall 12 and the front wall 13 as previously described. The upper and rear walls 12, 14 of the lid 9 are formed with side tabs 18 which overlap the side walls 16 of the front wall 13 of the lid 9 when the piece 20 is in a folded position. The front wall 13 of the lid 9 is additionally formed with a tongue 17 which is attached to a straight portion of the lid edge by a fold line 17a. The tongue 17 is folded inwardly so that it lies against the inner surface of the front wall 13 of the lid 9. The tongue 17 provides stability and resistance to the lid 9, since together with the front wall 13 of the lid 9 forms a double layer. In order to achieve an aesthetic appearance of the package 1 and to prevent a passage or roughness along the edge of the lower lid 15 where the tongue 17 extends, the fold line 17a is continuously partially cut or marked through its thickness and along its length from an adjacent lower left edge section 15a to an adjacent lower right edge section 15b on the outward side of the target so that the straight portion of the edge of the cover aligns with said left and lower right adjacent edge sections 15a, 15b as the tongue 17 is folded inwardly. Subsequently, since the package 1 closes the upper edge 5 of the body 2 it abuts the adjacent lower left and right edge sections 15a, 15b and the straight lower edge portion.
It should be appreciated that cutting along the fold line not only reduces the thickness of the material, but also helps to bend the tongue around said fold line.
In addition to the embodiment described above, the fold line may alternatively be partially cut or marked through its thickness, but not across its entire length. For example, a small portion of the fold line may be left uncut or ungrooved in order to stabilize the tab during manufacture. The small portion may include about 1 mm in length without cutting sections at each end of the fold line, or alternatively, an uncut section may only be located at the center of the fold line. It should be understood that as the sections are minimal compared to the length of the fold lines described in the prior art, the level of potential misalignment and the creation of a pitch relative to the adjacent edges of the bottom cover as shown in FIG. described in the introduction are reduced.
It should be appreciated that the scope of the present invention is not limited to the shape of the closure line 8 that is illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. Conversely, a package formed with any irregular closure line having a straight portion. from which a tongue extends may benefit from the present invention and is not within the scope of the present application.
It is envisioned that the package according to the present invention can receive an interior frame 30 as illustrated in Figure 3. The interior frame 30 shown in Figure 3 is folded along the lines of folding lines as well as for create rounded corners. The inner frame 30 is formed with a cut 31 in order to allow a user to easily retrieve a smoking article. It is also illustrated in Figure 3 that the inner frame 30 is provided with tongues 32 which engage an inner surface of the side walls of the lid in order to prevent accidental opening or yawning of the herd.
Although the embodiments of the invention have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the foregoing description should be considered as a description of the preferred embodiments only and that other embodiments that fall within the scope of the appended claims are deemed to be they are part of this description.
