Description

CONTAINER WITH COVERED COUPLING TABS Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a container that finds particular application as a container for consumer products, such as, for example, elongated smoking articles. The present invention also relates to a corresponding template for such a container.
Background of the Invention Containers for smoking articles and templates are well known in the art such as, for example, from International Patent Application WO-A-2009/020383. This international application describes a container for smoking articles that is formed from a template. The template comprises several panels. The panels first adhere to each other and then cut open to allow the upper lid portion to be articulated around a hinge line at the rear of the container. Some of the lid panels as well as the container box panels comprise coupling tabs, which adhere to the adjacent walls. Due to the way in which the jig of the container is constructed, much waste is created since some panels are stuck together outside the sides of the main surface area of the template. ' A similar container is known from GB 714 466 A. The container it additionally has an inner lid panel which is folded over the lid of the panel to form a second top lid wall. The panels are arranged in the templates of the container, such that a gap shows the edges between the front wall and the side walls of the box when the open container is seen from the front.
However, when the containers according to the prior art are in the open position, the coupling tabs are visible. Thus, an object of the present invention is to provide a container with a high quality appearance both in the open position and in the closed position. Another object of the invention is that the template of such a container is adapted to create as little waste as possible due to an improved embedding of templates on a larger sheet of the template material.
Brief Description of the Invention According to the invention, there is provided a container comprising a cup-shaped box and a lid connected to the cup-shaped box, further comprising a box side wall and an adjacent box front wall. A coupling tongue depends on the side wall of the container box and engages with the front box wall of the container. In addition, the tongue cover panel depends on the front wall of the box, wherein the tongue cover panel is overlapped, at least partially, on the coupling tongue. The container also comprises a cover panel inner which depends on a tongue cover panel, wherein the inner cover panel covers an inner portion of a container wall and wherein the inner cover panel covers, at least partially, the interior of the upper wall of the container. top.
The cut edges of a template usually do not print and have the color of the template material. When the template material is cardboard, typically the cut edges of the template are white or gray, unless a colored card is used. This means that these white or gray cut edges of the panels may be visible in another container printed with color according to the prior art. According to the invention, the coupling tabs are conveniently arranged, so that the coupling tabs connecting the front wall of the box and the side wall of the box in the container depend on the side walls of the box. Preferably, the coupling tabs of the lid are arranged so that the coupling tabs connecting the front wall of the lid and the side wall of the lid of the container depend on the side walls of the lid. This means that no cut edges are visible from the outside in front of the container. Only the vertical cut edges of the front wall of the box are generally visible, not from the front of the container, as they are facing towards the sides of the container. The front edges of the side walls of the lid and the container box are not cut edges, rather, they are fold lines printed between the side walls and the respective coupling tabs.
Preferably, the coupling tongues are arranged in such a way that the coupling tongues connecting the rear wall of the box and the side wall of the box in the container depend on the rear wall of the box. This means that no coupling tongue is visible inside the container, even when the back wall of the box is not covered with a cover panel.
This offers the container an aesthetic appearance. This is particularly true for containers that are assembled from a template that is only printed or coated on one side of the template. Preferably, in these containers the side of the coupling tongue that is coupled with the second wall is the non-printed side of the template. Preferably, all the tongue cover panels in the container are folded in such a manner over the respective mating tabs, in such a way that the printed side of the tongue cover panels are visible even when the template is printed only by a side. The tongue cover panel preferably folds over the coupling tongue.
According to the invention, the structural strength of the container is increased with the containers without the tongue cover panel since the coupling tongue depending on, the first wall is not only coupled with the second wall, but is also covered by the tongue cover panel, so that at least the second wall of the container comprises at least one double layer of material. Preferably, the tongue cover panel is also coupled with a second wall panel of the container.
The term "panel" is used throughout the specification to indicate a section of the template that is used to assemble the container. A panel is delimited on all sides by cutting lines, fold lines, marked lines, fold lines or combinations thereof.
The terms "fin" or "tab" are used to indicate sections of the template that depend only on one panel of the template. The "fins" or "tabs" can be used to couple panels together when the container is assembled or for other special purposes, such as lid closing mechanisms.
The term "wall" is used throughout the specification to indicate an external wall of the container lid, the container box or the container itself. A "wall" can comprise a number of panels, fins and tabs.
As used here, the terms "front", "rear", "upper", "lower", "lateral", "up", "down" and other terms used to describe the relative positions of the components of the containers according to the invention refer to the container in a straight position with the lid at the upper end and the joint in the back. The terms "left" and "right" are used with reference to the side walls of the container, when the container is observed from the front in its straight position. When the container in the straight position is open, the smoking articles contained in the box can be removed at the upper end of the container.
The term "longitudinal" refers to the direction from the bottom to the top or vice versa. The term "transverse" refers to the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction through the front wall, the rear wall or through one of the side walls.
The term "interior" is used throughout the specification in connection with a wall, tongue, panel or other portion of the container to refer to the side of that wall, tongue, panel or other portion facing towards the interior of the container when the container is in the closed position. In the same way, the term "exterior" is used throughout the specification in connection with a wall, tongue, panel or other portion of the container to refer to the side of that wall, tongue, panel or other portion facing towards the wall. outside of the container when the container is in the closed position.
In one embodiment, the container according to the invention also comprises a lifting panel with the ability to lift, at least partially, the consumer's products inside the container after opening the container. Preferably, the lifting panel is adapted to be raised by means of which it is connected on a folding mechanism with the inner cover panel.
Preferably, the container according to the invention also comprises a rear lifting wall panel, a lower lifting panel, and a rear folding panel, wherein the rear lifting wall panel depends on the inner cover panel, the Lower elevation panel depends on the rear elevation wall panel and the rear fold panel depends on the lower elevation panel and connects to the elevation panel. Such elevation feature allows better access to consumer products. Also, you can produce a nice product when the container is opened for the first time.
Preferably, the inner cover panel is approximately 5 to 15 percent shorter than the top cover wall that is adjacent, more preferably, approximately 5 to 10 percent shorter. The thickness of the base material of the template must be taken into account when the container is closed, so that the rear wall panel of elevation is firmly on the back wall of the box. In addition, when the container is opened, the rear lifting wall panel is pulled up to accommodate the missing length between the inner cover panel and the upper cover wall. This pulls the lower lift panel and the lower lift panel pulls the rear fold panel, so that the rear fold panel is rotated. The rotation of the rear folding panel increases the distance between the lower wall of the box and the lifting panel, so that the consumer products are on the lifting panel at least partially elevated. This is a very efficient mechanism to elevate consumer products. At the same time, the lifting mechanism does not complicate the container template much. Certainly, the lifting mechanism is still integrated with all the other elements of the template. In addition, the way in which the lifting element is folded in accordance with the invention, the lifting element also has the same side of the template exposed to the consumer, so that the container can be made of a single-sided printed template .
Preferably, the container is formed of only one sheet material template.
Preferably, the coupling tongue depends on the first wall through a fold line. The fold line can be provided in the template for the container for example, by a fold line or a marked line. The first and second walls may be the top, bottom, side, front or rear wall of the box or lid of the container, wherein the first and second walls refer to the walls that are adjacent to each other along at least one of its edges in the container.
Preferably, the top cover panel is generally the same size as the second wall, so that it completely covers the interior portion of the second wall. In certain embodiments, the tongue cover panel can be folded over more than one engaging tongue, for example, over two mating tabs. In addition, the coupling tabs can be coupled with both the second wall and the tongue cover panel. This adds structural resistance to the container.
Preferably, the container also comprises at least one inner cover panel depending on the tongue cover panel, wherein at least the inner cover panel is superimposed on the inner portion of the wall of the container. Alternatively or in addition, an inner cover panel may also depend on another cover panel covering a side, front or rear wall of the container. This allows a wall of the container adjacent to the Second wall is completely or partially covered by the inner cover panel. In this way, the remaining inner wall portions of the container which may comprise the unprinted side of the inwardly-facing template, may be covered by at least one inner cover panel, which provides the printed side of the insole towards the interior. inside the container. In addition, additional information for the consumer or advertising information may be provided in the internal cover panel. Due to the inventive arrangement of the panels in the container, the printed side of the inner cover panel will also appear inside the container, even with a template that is printed on only one side.
In one embodiment, the inner cover panel covers the internal lace of a top panel of the lid. This is particularly convenient for containers having a rather flat shape which is where the height of the container is comparatively lower with respect to the depth and width of the container. In this way, the top panel of the lid comprises a large area suitable for presenting printed information, or for example, a mirror section.
Preferably, the tab cover panel is arranged adjacent to the second wall and is confronted to the interior of the container, and the coupling tab is provided between the inner cover panel and a second wall panel. Thus, when the tongue cover panel is essentially the same size as the second wall, the edges of the tongue cover panel are covered by the walls of the container adjacent the second wall.
In one embodiment, a rear wall of the container may comprise a hinge line connecting the box and the lid. In one embodiment, the walls of the lid and the walls of the box are butted by their edges, so that the side walls and the front walls of the box and the lid are flush with each other when the container is closed. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, at least the front wall of the lid overlaps, at least partially, on the front wall of the box. Alternatively or in addition, the side walls of the lid overlap, at least partially, with the respective side walls of the box.
The term "articulation line" refers to a line around which the lid can rotate in order to open the container. An articulation line, for example, can be a fold line or a line marked on the back wall of the container. Alternatively, a hinge line can be a fold line or a line marked on a piece of material that joins the bottom edge of the back wall of the lid and the top edge of the back wall of the box. Such a piece of material, for example, may be a label that is fixedly or removably attached to the back wall of the lid and the back wall of the box. Preferably, the articulation line is positioned along the rear wall of the container at a level below the upper edge of the rear wall.
Preferably, the superimposed front cover wall comprises a sound flap defined by a cut and a fold line. The sound flap protrudes from the front wall of the cover to be coupled with a closing cut of the front wall of the box. Alternatively, the sound flap protrudes from the front wall of the box so as to engage with the closing cut of the front wall of the box.
Preferably, the sound flap is provided on the tongue cover panel that faces the interior of the container, so that the closure cut is not visible from the outside. Preferably, the closure cut is provided in the cover panel on the front wall of the box.
Preferably, the sound flap depends, in an articulated manner, on the upper edge of the front wall of the box or on the lower edge of the front wall of the box. Preferably, the sound flap protrudes towards the closing cut to thereby engage with the edges of the sound flap in the closed position of the container. , This feature provides the benefit that the container is secured in the closed state. In addition, the sound flap generates a sound when it enters the closing cut completely after closing the container. The sound ensures the consumer about the closure of the container.
In one embodiment, the front wall of the lid has a coupling cut to thereby provide a coupling portion for opening the container. This feature is particularly suitable for such a container according to the invention, wherein the front wall of the box overlaps, at least partially, on the outside of the box front wall when the container is closed. Advantageously, the front wall of the box can be coupled by the consumer through the coupling cut in the front wall of the box. In addition, the coupling cut allows the consumer to apply pressure on the front wall of the box to elastically deform the front preferably toward the rear panel. This facilitates the separation of the sound portion of the closing cut. This with advantage, allows an easy opening of the container.
Preferably, the container box comprises articles for smoking, in particular, elongated smoking articles, such as cigars.
In addition, the present invention provides a template for a container comprising a box side wall panel, a box front wall panel, and at least one coupling tab that depends on the side wall panel of the box. The jig also comprises a tongue cover panel which depends on a front wall panel of the box and which is adapted to be folded in order to cover the coupling tongue in the container. , The template according to the invention comprises an inner cover panel depending on a tongue cover panel of the cover.
Preferably, the inner cover panel depends on the front wall of the cover to cover the inside of the top wall of the cover. Alternatively, the inner cover panel that covers the inside of the top wall of the lid depends on the cover panel that covers the inside side wall of the lid.
The panels of the template that correspond to the walls in the container depend on each other along the marked or fold lines. 1 Preferably, the tongue cover panel is essentially the same size as the front wall panel of the box. This allows the tongue cover panel to completely cover one side of the front wall panel of the box and thus, a smooth surface can be obtained without any edge of the template.
In one embodiment, the jig comprises a lower box parity panel, wherein each of the left side wall panel of the box, the right side box wall panel and the front wall panel of the box depend on the panel of the box. bottom wall of box. In addition, the jig comprises a lid top wall panel, wherein each of the left side lid wall panel, the right side lid side panel and the front wall panel depends on the top wall panel of the lid. A box back wall panel is dependent on the top cover wall panel by a hinge line and depends on the bottom side box wall. This template allows a container with a cup-type box and a lid connected in articulated form therein.
The tongue cover panels may depend on the left side box wall panel, the right side box wall panel, the box front wall panel and the front cover wall panel. Additional cover panels may depend on the left side cover wall panel and the right side cover wall panel. Additional cover panels allow to cover the inside of the corresponding wall panels without a coupling tongue, arranged between the cover panel and the corresponding wall panel. For example, when the front cover wall panel comprises the coupling tabs, the tongue cover panels may depend on the left side cover wall panel and the right side cover wall panel to cover the aforementioned coupling tabs . In this embodiment, an inner cover panel covering the inside of the top cover wall may depend on the front cover panel of the cover or one of the cover side cover tab panels.
Preferably, the inner cover panel covering the inside of the top cover wall panel depends on the tongue cover panel of the front wall panel of the cover. This allows the template to not understand any very high variation in its width, so that the manufacturing process of the template requires few amounts of waste material, when the template is cut.
In a preferred embodiment, the coupling tabs are provided on the side of the box back wall panel, the box side wall panels and the side cover wall panels.
The consumer's products inside the container can be wrapped with an internal liner, which is visible when the box is opened when the container is opened.
The containers according to the invention can have the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped with longitudinal edges at right angles and transverse edges at right angles. Alternatively, the container may comprise one or more rounded longitudinal edges, rounded transverse edges, bevelled longitudinal edges or beveled transverse edges or a combination thereof. For example, the container according to the invention Can understand without limitation: One or more rounded or bevelled longitudinal edges on the front wall; I one or two longitudinal rounded edges or transverse bevels on the rear wall.
One or two rounded or beveled transverse edges on the front wall; I one or two transverse rounded or bevelled edges on the back wall.
A rounded longitudinal edge and a longitudinal beveled edge on the front wall; I a rounded transverse edge and a transverse edge bevelled on the rear wall.
One or two rounded transverse edges or beveled edges on the front wall and one or two longitudinal edges beveled or rounded on the front wall.
Two rounded or beveled longitudinal edges on a first side wall or two rounded or beveled transverse edges on the second side wall.
When the container comprises one or more rounded edges and is made of a rolled mold, preferably the mold comprises three, four, five, six or seven marked lines or fold lines to form each rounded edge in the assembled container. The marked or folding lines can be inside the container or outside the container. Preferably, the marked lines or fold lines are separated from each other by between about 0.3 mm and 4 mm.; Preferably, the separation of the fold lines or marked lines is a function of the thickness of the rolled mold. Preferably, the spacing between the fold lines or the marked lines is between about 0.5 and about 4 times more than the thickness of the rolled mold.
When the container comprises one or more beveled edges, preferably, the beveled edge has a width of about 1 mm and about 10 mm, preferably between about 2 mm and about 6 mm. Alternatively, the container may comprise a double bevel formed by three parallel marked or folding lines which are spaced apart so that two different bevels are formed at the edge of the container.
Alternatively, the container may have a rectangular cross section, the container may for example have a polygonal cross section, such as triangular, quadrangular or hexagonal, or an oval, semi-oval, circular or semi-circular cross section.; When the container comprises a beveled edge and is made of a rolled mold, the bevel can be formed by two folding lines or lines marked parallel in the rolled mold. Folding lines or marked lines can be arranged symmetrically to the edge between a first wall and a second wall. Alternatively, the folding lines or marked lines can be arranged in a asymmetric to the edge between the first wall and the second wall, so that the bevel reaches more inside the first wall of the container than inside the second wall of the container.
The container can be formed of any suitable material, including, but not limited to, cardboard, paperboard, plastic, metal or combinations thereof. Preferably, the cardboard has a weight of between about 100 grams per square meter and 350 grams per square meter.
The containers according to the invention can be used as packaging for a variety of consumer products. In particularly preferred embodiments, the containers according to the invention can be used to pack smoking articles. The containers according to the invention can be used to pack smoking articles including, but not limited to, conventional, cigar-end cigars or cigarettes, heated smoking articles comprising a fuel element or a heat source and a generator substrate. aerosol (e.g., cigars of the type described in US-A-4,714,082) and smoking articles for use with electric smoking systems (e.g., cigars of the type described in US-A-5,692,525).
Through proper selection of the dimensions thereof, the container according to the invention may be designed to accommodate different number of smoking articles, or different arrangements of smoking articles. For example, with the proper selection of the dimensions thereof, the container according to the invention can be designed to accommodate a total of between ten and thirty smoking articles. Preferably, the smoking articles are arranged in the container so that they extend from the front wall to the back wall of the box.
The containers according to the invention can accommodate one, two, three, four or five separate sets of consumer products. The separate assemblies may be arranged essentially parallel to the front wall and the rear wall or essentially perpendicular to the front wall and the rear wall.
Within a set, the smoking articles can be located in different configurations, depending on the total number of smoking articles, the dimensions of the smoking articles and the cross-sectional shape of the container. For example, smoking items can be arranged as a whole in a single row of five, six, seven, eight, nine or ten. Alternatively, smoking items can be arranged in two or more rows. The two or more rows may contain the same number of smoking items. A sound fin 35 is provided in the box front wall panel 22 by providing a cut 36 in the tongue cover panel 30 that depends on the box front wall panel 22. The sound flap 35 is a template portion that depends on a fold line 37 from the front panel wall 22. The cut 36 comprises a certain width, which creates a gap between the sound flap 35 and the remaining tongue cover panel 30, so that the sound flap 35 does not engage with the tongue cover panel 30.
A closure cut 38 is provided in the tongue cover panel 33 that depends on the upper front wall panel 27 at a distance from the upper front wall panel 27.
In the container 1, the sound flap 35 can be coupled with the edges of the closure cut 38 and therefore, keep the container 1 in a closed state. During closure of the container, the sound flap 35 is first in contact with the tongue cover panel 33 and will provide a sound when adjusted in the closing cut 38.
A coupling cut-out 39 is provided in the front cover wall panel 27 and in the tongue cover panel 33 in a symmetrical shape with respect to the fold line between these panels, so as to provide a coupling portion in the container 1 to open container 1.
The box back wall panel 26 depends through the hinge line 40 of the top wall panel 23 to provide a hinge for opening the lid 3 with respect to the box 2.
In one embodiment of the invention, a template according to Figure 3 is used for manufacturing the container according to Figures 1 and 2.
In a first step, the outline of the template is cut from a sheet material. The sheet material can be made of coated cardboard, but it is also possible to use a plastic material. The sheet material of preference is coated and printed on at least one side.
Then, the coupling tongues 13 and 14 are engaged with the interior of the box front wall panel 22. The coupling tongues 15 and 16 are coupled with the left side wall box panel 20 and the right side wall panel 21 of the box, respectively. The coupling is carried out when adhering, however, other connection techniques known in the art can be applied. The tongue cover panels 28, 29 and 30 are folded into the interior of the box wall panels 20, 21 and 22, so that the coupling tabs 13, 14, 15 and 16 are provided between the panels 20, 21, 22 of the box wall and the tongue cover panels 28, 29 and 30, respectively.
Then, the coupling tongues 17 and 18 engage with the interior of the front cover wall panel 27. The tab cover panel 33 is engaged with the interior of the coupling tabs I, 18, and the front cover wall panel 27. In this position, the inner cover panel 34 is adjacent to the interior of the lid top panel 23, so as to cover the lid top wall panel 23. Finally, the cover panels 31, 32 are coupled with the right and left side cover panels 24, 25 to cover the inside of the right and left side cover panels 24, 25.
The sound flap 35 is bent outwardly of the front wall 7 of the container case 1 (as can be seen in Figure 2) so that the edges of the cut 38 of the lid 3 can be engaged with the fin 35 of sound.
Thus, with a template that is only printed on one side, a container 1 can be provided where most of the interior walls of the container are covered by the printed sides of the tongue cover panels, the cover panels or the internal cover panels. In addition, all the coupling tongues 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 are covered, so that a high quality appearance of the container 1 is obtained.
It should be noted that in other embodiments, the coupling tabs may also be engaged with the exterior of the adjacent wall panels. In this case, the tongue cover panels are bent towards the outside of the wall panels, such that the coupling tabs are covered.
In addition, it is possible to provide an inner cover panel for the box, so that the lower wall of the box is covered by an inner cover panel as well.
The inner cover panel can be provided on any tongue cover panel or cover panel. ! The container may also comprise a lifting device that lifts the smoking articles when the container is opened. For example, the lifting device can be formed by two cover panels (not shown) that depend on the rear edge of the inner cover panel 34 and cover the inside of the box rear wall 8 and the interior of the lower wall 4 of box. Alternatively, a section of the inner lining of the smoking articles can be coupled with the inside of the upper lid wall to elevate the smoking articles along the rear wall once the lid is opened by more than 90 degrees.
Figure 4 shows a template of another embodiment of the present invention with an additional lifting feature. The lifting feature comprises a lifting panel 46, a rear lifting wall panel 42, a lower lifting panel 44 and a rear folding panel 45, wherein the rear wall panel 42 of elevation depends on the inner cover panel 34, the lower elevation panel 44 depends on the rear elevation wall panel 42 and the rear panel 45 The back fold depends on the lower elevation panel 44 and is connected to the elevation panel 46. At the end of the lifting panel is a lifting fin 48 which preferably adheres to the interior of the lower box panel 19. In the assembled container 1, the inner cover panel 34 is against the inside of the upper lid wall 9. The rear elevation wall panel 42 is bent approximately 90 degrees down into the case 2 against the rear case wall 8. The lower elevation panel 44 is bent at approximately 90 degrees to lie against the lower case wall 4. The rear bend panel 45 is bent approximately 180 degrees back toward the rear case wall 8, so as to create a z-fold between the lower lift wall 44 and the lift panel 46. The arrangement of the panels in the closed position of container 1, is shown in Figure 5.
The inner cover panel 34 is approximately 5 to 15 percent shorter than the upper cover wall 9. This has the effect that when the container 1 is rotated on the articulation line 40 in the direction indicated by the arrow 50, the rear lifting wall panel 42 is pulled up towards the direction of the arrow 52 to accommodate the length missing between the inner cover panel 34 and the upper cover wall 9. This pulls the lower elevation panel 44. The lower lift panel 44 pulls the rear fold panel 45, so that the rear fold panel 45 is rotated. The rotation of the rear bending panel 45 increases the distance between the lower box wall 4 and the lifting panel 46, so that the consumer products are located on the lifting panel 46 are partially raised in the direction indicated by the arrow 54. When the container 1 is closed, the panels return to their initial position.
