DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings, which assist in the illustration of several pertinent characteristics of the packg design. Although the invention will now be described first in conjunction with the sale of beverages, it should be expressly understood that the invention may be applicable to other applications where it is desirable to attract a consumer to a variety of product sample. In this regard, the following description of an exhibition box for beverage containers is present for purposes of illustration and description. Therefore, the description is not intended to limit the invention to the form described in this document. Consequently, the variations and modifications are commensurable with the following teachings and the skill and knowledge of the relevant art are within the scope of the exhibition box. The modalities described in this document are furthermore intended to explain the known ways of practicing the invention and allow other experts in the art to use the invention in which, or other modalities and with various modifications required by the particular application or use of the drawer of display.
A display box 20 for individual beverage containers 22 is shown in Figures 1 and 2. As can be seen, the display box 20 has the shape and general appearance of a soda can or extended soft drink. The display box 20 includes multiple shelves 24 for supporting the beverage containers 22. The display box 20 also includes a pair of side shelves 26 for containing empty boxes 28 for carrying the selected beverage containers 22. As can also be seen from Figure 1, on at least one of the shelves 24 can be used to display one of the empty cartons 28 or to display six filled beverage packages. The display box 20 also includes several locations on the display surfaces for the presentation of promotional materials related to beverage sales. For example, these promotional materials may appear along a front frame in the front of certain shelves, may appear along an outer surface of a top cover for the display case, one or more signs may appear that extend upwards of the display drawer, which could be displayed in any appropriate way.
As can be seen in Figures 1-4 and particularly in Figures 3 and 3A, the display box 20 has several components. A support base 30 is adapted to support the complete display case 20 and rest on the floor or other appropriate horizontal surface. A pair of vertical support members 32 join the base 30 and support the plurality of shelves 24 that are hung thereon. A pair of transverse support members 34 is used to connect the two vertical support members 32 to one another and provide stability for the display drawer 20. The deployment drawer 20 also includes a lid 36 at the top and attached to the vertical support members 32. The cap may have a sign 38 nesting upwardly therefrom.
The support base 30 can be better seen in Figures 4 and 5. The support base 30 includes a six-sided solid frame 40. As seen in Figure 4, the frame 40 further includes a pair of transverse beams 42 connecting to a rear side 44 of the frame 40 at a front side 46 of the frame 40. A curved frame 48 extends from a first side side 50 of the frame 40 to an opposite side side 52 of the frame 40. This frame 48 is visible from the front of the frame 40. Display drawer 20 and helps to provide the display drawer 20 with the appearance of a can of soft drinks.
As seen in Figure 5, five different rotating wheels 54 are rotatably mounted to the lower part of the frame 40. The rotating wheels 54 allow the display box to move close to the floor of a store where the display box 20 can be located This may allow the display box 20 to be positioned at any of a variety of locations throughout the store, such as at the end of a hallway in a grocery store. For stability purposes, the base of the support 30 also includes a pair of feet 56 that are threadedly attached to the frame 40. As can be appreciated, by turning the foot 56 in one direction, the pads 58 on the underside thereof can contract toward the frame 40 (see Figure 2) by turning the foot 56 in the opposite direction, the pads 58 can be advanced towards the floor (see Figure 1). In addition, the foot 56 may be in a contracted position while the display case 20 is placed in the desired location and then the foot 56 may extend to be in contact with the floor so as to provide increased stability for the display case 20. One of the vertical support members 32 is shown in more detail in Figure 6. As can be seen, the vertical support members 32 help to provide the vertical dimension to the appearance as a can of the display case 20. The support members verticals 32 are strong enough to support the weight of the shelves 24 and all of the filled beverage containers 22 to be placed on the shelves 24.
The transverse support members 34 are attached to the vertical support members 32. The number of transverse support members 34 may be varied as may be appropriate for the application. In addition, the exact position of the transverse support members in the display box is variable.
The lid 36 shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3A also joins the vertical support members 32 and generally functions to provide a synthetic appearance of the upper part of the refreshment can appearance of the display case 20. In addition, the Top 36 is generally formed as the top portion of a soda can. As mentioned previously, the lid 36 may include multiple locations, such as those designated with dotted lines in Figure 1 for the placement and presentation of promotional materials in the display drawer 20. The sign 38 extending upwardly from the lid 36 which also It may contain promotional materials displayed on it, as shown in Figure 1.
The shelves 24 are seen in Figures 1, 2, 3, 3A and 8. As can be seen, the shelves 24 can have a variety of configurations. For example, it may have a small frame or a larger frame, as seen in the shelves 24 in Figure 3A. Also, as seen in Figure 1, some of the shelves 24 may have a rail extending along an upper front edge thereof to act as a wall to prevent the cartons from falling out of the display box 20, for example . Other shelves 24 may be composed of any suitable material and be of any appropriate design. In this mode, a wire frame shelf is shown. The front edges of the shelves 24 of the display case 20 are curved to be added to the appearance as a soda can of the display case 20. As can be seen, the shelves 24 can be attached to the vertical support members 32 so that the shelves 24 make a descending angle from the back to the front at an angle of approximately 11 °, although other angles may be appropriate. This angle has been found appropriate for the gravity feed of the shelves 24. In other words, an employee of a store storing the display box 20 can add the beverage containers from the back of the display box 20 and slide it. to the shelves 24 towards the front edge of the shelves. In this way, the shelves 24 can be easily stored and provide a pleasant appearance of a completely stored shelf. It is also possible to cover the surface of the shelves 24 in which the beverage containers rest with a low friction material, such as styrene, silicone or other suitable material.
The side shelves 26 are shown in Figures 1, 2, 3, 3A and 9. As can be seen in Figure 9, this embodiment of the side frame 26 includes a wire frame with three lower compartments for containing collapsed cartons 28 and a compartment upper to contain cartons 28 that have been unfolded in an orientation capable of receiving the beverage containers 22.
As can be appreciated, the display case 20 can be assembled as follows. The foot 56 can join the support base 30, if it has not already been done. As shown in Figure 7, the vertical support members 32 can be attached to the support base 30 and the transverse support members 34 joined between the vertical support members 32. The cover 36 can then be attached to the upper part of the supports. vertical support members 32 and the various shelves 24 can be hung from the vertical support members 32. The side frames 26 can be attached to the external surfaces of the display case 20 and the sign 38 can be attached to the lid 36 and the promotional materials can provided on various external surfaces of the display case 20 as previously described. The display box 20 can then be stored with the beverage containers 22 and the cartons 28 as previously described.
A method for attracting consumers to the sample of different types of beverages is shown in Figure 10. First of all, the assembled display drawer 20 is provided. Then, the display drawer 20 is stored 72 with multiple containers 22. from a variety of different types of drinks. The side frames 26 of the display box 20 are also stored 74 with multiple cartons for carrying the multiple beverage containers 22. The opportunity to purchase multiple containers 22 from a variety of different drinks can then be promoted to consumers. This is done via promotional materials located in the display box 20 via advertising in any of several media forms, via store ads or through any of a variety of appropriate media. The consumer is then allowed to select a cardboard 28, select multiple beverage containers 22, place the containers 22 on the carron 28 and buy the combination. It should be noted that the beverage containers 22 stored in the display case 20 can be of various sizes and configurations. An example of a size and configuration are beverage cans of an 8 oz. Test size. It is possible, however, for any other size of beverage container or other type such as plastic bottles or containing other amounts such as 7 oz., 11 oz., 12 oz., 1 liter or other appropriate amount can also be substituted.
The term shows how it is used in this document refers to both the unpaid or paid distribution of products / services. It should also be understood that certain implementation details may be varied and the objectives of the invention are still met. For example, the number, types and angle of the shelves can be varied, a different way of supporting the beverage containers that the shelves could be used, the appearance of the display drawer could be of a different type of beverage container or have some other Appearance, empty cartons could be contained in a different way, a display drawer that does not have a support base or vertical support members could be used, transverse support members could be removed, the cover could be removed, the sign extending from the lid it could be eliminated and any other appropriate modification could be made.
