Abstract

2회의 펄스를 갖는 시작 신호(STV)와, 클럭 신호(VCLK)를 생성하여 출력하는 액정 인터페이스 IC(1)와, 상기한 액정 인터페이스 IC로부터 입력되는 시작신호에 따라 2회의 펄스를 갖는 게이트 전극전압을 각 게이트 라인으로 출력하는 게이트 버스 드라이버 IC(2)와, 상기한 게이트 버스 드라이버 IC로부터 입력되는 게이트 전극전압에 의해 각 게이트 라인의 박막 트랜지스터가 구동되고, 이에 따라 데이터 버스 라인에 인가되는 계조전압과 공통전극전압 간의 전위차에 의해서 액정이 구동되도록 하는 액정 픽셀(3)로 구성되어 있으며, 박막 트랜지스터의 2회의 펄스를 갖는 게이트 전극전압을 인가함으로써 구동펄스의 폭을 2배로 하는 것과 유사한 효과를 내도록 함으로써, 액정 픽셀이 정확히 구동되도록 하는 효과를 가진 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동장치 및 방법을 제공한다.

박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치의 구동장치 및 방법

제5도는 이 발명의 실시예에 따른 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동장치의 블럭 회로도이고, 제6도는 이 발명의 실시예에 따른 시작 신호(STV)를 생성하기 위한 게이트 어레이의 회로도이고, 제7도는 이 발명의 실시예에 따른 게이트 어레이의 동작 파형도이다.

Claims (5)

  1. 2회의 펄스를 갖는 시작 신호(STV)와, 클럭 신호(VCLK)를 생성하여 출력하는 액정 인터페이스 IC와, 상기한 액정 인터페이스 IC로부터 입력되는 시작신호에 따라 2회의 펄스를 갖는 게이트 전극전압을 각 게이트 라인으로 출력하는 게이트 버스 드라이버 IC와, 상기한 게이트 버스 드라이버 IC로부터 입력되는 게이트 전극전압에 의해 각 게이트 라인의 박막 트랜지스터가 구동되고, 이에 따라 데이터 버스 라인에 인가되는 계조전압과 공통전극전압 간의 전위차에 의해서 액정이 구동되도록 하는 액정 픽셀로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기한 액정 인터페이스 IC는, 수직 동기신호에 의해 클리어된 뒤에, 수평 동기 신호에 의해 카운팅을 하는 10비트 카운터와, 상기한 10비트 카운터의 하위 6비트 출력신호를 각각 반전시키기 위한 인버터들과, 이진수 0000111111일때 하이상태의 신호를 출력하는 제1부정논리합 수단과, 이진수 0000000001일때 하이상태의 신호 출력하는 제2부정논리합 수단과, 상기한 제1 및 제2부정논리합 수단의 출력신호를 논리합시켜 출력하는 논리합 수단으로 이루어지는 게이트 어레이를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동장치.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기한 제1 및 제2부정논리합 수단으로서 NOR 게이트를 사용함과 동시에 상기한 논리합 수단으로서 OR 게이트를 사용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기한 게이트 버스 드라이버 IC는 공통전극 반전방식으로 구동되는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동장치.
  5. 수직 동기신호(Vsync)에 의해서 카운팅이 클리어된 후에, 31번째에 해당하는 수평 동기신호(Hsync)에서 시작신호(STV)의 펄스를 생성하는 단계와, 33번째에 해당하는 수평 동기신호(Hsync)에서 시작신호(STV)의 펄스를 생성하는 단계와, 상기한 시작신호(STV)를 게이트 버스 드라이버 IC로 인가함으로써 2회의 펄스를 갖는 게이트 전극전압이 박막 트랜지스터의 게이트 라인에 인가되도록 하는 단계로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막 트랜지스터 액정 표시장치의 구동방법.
