본 발명은 패킹시일 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
패킹시일은 잘알려져 있으며, 수압 펌프등과 같은 여러가지 이동성 기계부 주위의 누출을 막는데 쓰여왔다. 종래의 피킹시일은 밀폐부주위캡 링이 위치할때 링의 각상부에 들어맞는 각개의 일련의 링으로 구성되었다. 다른 종래의 시일은 나사성 형이며, 이는 미합중국 특허 제567,233호에 나타나 있다. 이러한 나사선 시일은 하나의 연속 코일부로 만들어지며, 기계부의 밀폐를 위해 압축된다. 양자의 경우 공히 밀접한 접합을 행하고, 누출방지를 위해 밀폐되어야 할 축이나 다른 기계부의 외경에 시일의 내경이 꼭 들어맞아야 한다. 따라서, 종래 시일의 주요한 단점은 약간 다른 직경의 시일을 만들기 위해 그때마다 다른 시일주형을만들어야 하기 때문에 제조단가가 비싸진다는 것이다.
이러한 단점을 극복하기 위한 노력으로, 몇개의 각 링 시일(A.W. Chesterton Company의 8000 Series)을 원링의 직경보다 약간 작은 직경을 갖는 부분의 주위에 맞도록 하기위해 자른다. 그러나, 링의 절단부가 낭비되고, 어쨌든 링은 원링보다 약간 큰 직경을 갖는 부분에는 맞지 않는다.
본 발명의 목적은 원링보다 크거나 작은 직경을 갖는 밀폐부에 사용될 수 있는 나사선 패킹시일을 저렴한 가격으로 제조하는 방법을 제공하고자 함에 있다.
대개, 본 발명은 나사선주형에서 열경화성수지를 가열하여 압축성형 시켜서, 부분적으로 경화된 나사선시일을 형성시키고, 주형으로부터 부분적으로 경화된 시일을 제거하고, 축에 감아서 여기에 염을 적용시켜 나사선시일을 경화시키고, 축으로부터 시일을 제거시키는 것으로 것으로 구성된다.
우수한 실시예에서, 가열된 균일한 열경화성 액체 우레탄 탄성중합체를 나사선 주형의 하부에부어 넣는다. 주형의 상부를 하부주형에 압축시키고, 열을 가하여 액체수지를 수지 검(plastic gum)과 같은 물질로 변화시킨다. 이 부분적으로 경화된 나사선시일을 정해진 직경의 원통형 축주위에 감은 후 가열하여 경화시킨다. 축으로부터 제거한후 최종경화를 위해 시일을 오븐위에 놓는다. 경화되었을 때, 시일은 탄력성이 있고, 기계부를 둘러싸서 효과적으로 밀폐한다. 이것은 정해진 점에서 나사선을 절단함에 의해 행해지며 따라서 일련의 동일한 링을 얻으며, 링은 밀폐될 부위의 직경을 갖는다. 어댑터는 유사하게 잘라지고, 적층링의 상부와 하부에 위치하며, 다음에 이적층은 기계부의 주위에 미끄러져 들어간다. 경화된 탄성중합체가 내마모성이 있고 돌출에 대해 저항성이 있고 흡수성이 없기 때문에, 밀폐는 대단히 우수하다. 더 많은 링이 필요하게되면, 접합기를 사용하여 나사선시일의 한끝과 다른 시일의 한끝을 접합하여 긴 나사서시일을 만들 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 목적, 장점등은 첨부된 도면을 참조로한 상세한 설명으로 더욱 명백하게 될 것이다.
제1도에서 주형 10은 오목한 하부 12와 볼록한 상부 20으로 구성된다. 오목하부 12는 저부에 V자형 이랑(ridge)16을 가진 나사선 홈 14를 가지고 있다. 볼록한 상부 20은 표면으로부터 돌출한 둥근나사선 22를 가니고 있다. 나사선 22는 주형 10의 볼록상부 20이 제위치에 있을때 홈 14에 들어 맞는다.
액체 열경화성수지인 우레탄 탄성중합체를 듀퐁(Du Pont)사이 L167 같은 액체수지와 뉴욕의 폴리에스터 코오포레이숀의 4,4-메틸렌-비스(2-크로로 아닐린) 같은 촉매를 혼합하여 만든다. 촉매는 작은 알약형태이며, 액체수지와 혼합되기 이전에 용융된다. 다음에 이 액체수지를 180℃-220℉ 사이의 온도로 가열하여 주형 10의 나사선홈 14에 붓는다. 홈 14는 액체수지로 완전히 채워지지는 않는다.
이때, 주형 10의 상부 20은 제부 12위에 밀접시켜서 둥근 나사선 22가 홈 14속의 액체수지를 밀게한다. 다음에 주형부를 유압프레스(도면에는 나타나있지 않음)로 압축을 가한다. 프레스는 작은 경우에 1000psi 압력을 가하나, 더작은 압력이 사용된다. 동시에 주형을 180℃-220℉ 사이의 온도로 유지시킨다. 압축성형을 4-6분간 지속시킨다.
다음에 주형을 열고 가열을 멈춘다. 압축성형은 액체수지를 고체수지 검상태로 부분적으로 경화시킨다. 이 결과 나사선시일은 탄성을 가지고 있으나, 충분히 경화되지는 않는다.
제2도의 축 30은 하부 립(lip)33을 가진 내부 실린더 32와 중심이 같은 외부실린더34를 가지고 있다. 실린더들은 부착되어있지 않으며, 이들의 벽은 나사선 시일의 횡단면 두께가 거의 일정하도록 일정거리로 분리 되어있다. 주형으로부터 부분적으로 경화된 시일은 실린더 32,34의 사이에 공급되어 나사선시일이 실린더 32의 주위에 립 33으로부터 실린더 32의 반대단부까지 감겨진다. 외부 실린더 34는 나사선 시일이 폴리는 것을 방지한다. 감긴 나사선시일을 가진 축 30을 오븐안에서 180℃-220℉로 15-30분간 가열한다. 이는 시일을 경화시켜서 시일이 탄성력으로 입체성과 안정성을 갖도록 한다. 시일의 내부직경은 선정된 축의 내부 실린더의 직경과 같다. 우수한 실시예의 유용한 내부실린더의 내직경은 3.25, 4.25, 7.25, 11.25인치이다. 네가지 다른 주형을 네가지 다른 축으로 사용하였다. 주형은 크기만이 변화하여 긴 나사선 시일을 커다란 축을 사용하여 생산한다.
제3도의 경화된 나사선시일 40은 주형 10의 저부에 있는 V자형이랑 16에 의해 형성된 반구형의 상부 42를 가지고 있다. 시일 40은 또한 주형 10의 상부 20의 둥근 나사선 22가 주형 10의 나사선홈 14안의 액체수지를 압축할때 형성된 아래방향으로 뻗치는 한쌍의 주변이랑 44를 가진다. 나사선 시일 40을 압축할때. 연속코일 50은 한 코일의 반구형 상부 42가 코일이랑 44사이에 맞아들어감에 따라 서로 들어맞는다.
최종 단계로서, 나사선 시일 40을 압축된 위치에 묶어서 최종경화를 위해서 오븐에 넣어 180℃-220℉로 2-3시간 가열시킨다. 나사선 시일은 탄성이 있고, 경화된 탄성중합체는 내마모성이 있고, 돌출에 대한 저항성이 있으며 흡수성이 없다.
나사선 시일은 미합중국 특허 제4,157,833호에 나타난 것과같이 딤플(dimple) 두께에 특징지어진다. 이것은 구입자가 나사선시일을 측정의 어려움이나 낭비없이 밀폐되어야 할 부분의 직경과 같은 직경을 갖는 일련의 각개링 60으로 자르는 것을 가능하게 한다. 다음에 링을 제4도에 나타나있는 것과 같이 중앙에 쌓는다. 상부 어댑터 62와 저부어댑터 64를 적층된것에 더 부가시킨다. 어댑터62,64는 주형의 모양만 다를뿐 나사선 시일과 같은 방식으로 만들어진다. 다음에 이 나사선 어댑터를 두링으로 잘라서 제4도에 나타나있듯이 링60의 적층위와 아래에 위치시킨다. 다음에 전 시일 70을 축 72나 다른 기계부의 주위에 위치시키고, 돌출접관 76을 갖는 패킹마개 74를 시일 70위에 조인다. 접관은 시일 70을 누르고, 이랑 44는 밖으로 벌어져서, 이들은 축 72를 압축하고 이로인해 밀폐가 된다.
나사선 시일의 탄성때문에 각 링60을 나사선 시일이 경화된 선정된 축의 내부실린더 직경보다 20%정도 크거나 작은 직경을 갖는 기계부에 맞도록 자를 수 있다. 그러므로, 4개의 내부 실린더 크기를 가지고, 지경 2.75인치에서 13.75인치 범위 이내에 시일링을 만들 수 있고, 링은 나사선시일의 연속부로부터 잘라지기 때문에, 낭비되는 시일이 적다.
제5도는 접합기 80을 사용하여 두개이상의 나사선시일을 연결시킴에 의해 시일의 길이를 늘일수 있다. 플합기 80은 주형 10의 필수적인 파이(pic)모양이다. 접합기 80은 하부 84에 일련의 홈 82(세개 나타나 있음)를 가지고 있으며, 홈 82의 직경은 다른 축으로부터 나사선 시일의 직경과 일치한다. 나사선시일의 한단부 86은 한면으로부터 선택된 홈 82에 들어가고, 다른 시일의 다부 88은 다른면으로부터 홈에 들어간다. 죔틀 90은 단부86,88을 지지한다. 단부86,88에 사이와 위에 가열된 열경화성 수지를 붓고 일련의 둥근돌출 나사선 94를 갖는 상부92를 밀접시킨다. 180℃-220℉의 온도로 5-10분간 가하여 압축성형을 시킨다. 이렇게 두시일을 고체접합시킨후에, 접합된 시일을 여러시간 동안 오븐에 넣어 경화시킨다.
본 발명에는 다른 열 경화성 재료, 다른수지, 촉매를 사용할 수 있다. 주형 또한 다른 형태로 만들 수 있으며, 시일의 폭도 변화시킬 수 있다. 역시 압축성형시 1000psi이하의 압력을 쓰는것도 가능하다. 축의 내부실린더 직경도 원하는 크기로 변화시킬 수 있으며, 4개의 선택된 축 직경되 임계치는 아니다. 나사선 시일을 각 링으로 절단시키지 않고 사용하는 것도 가능하다. 그러나, 이것은 밀폐되어야 할 기계부에 제한된 접근성이 있는 경우에는 불가능하다.
숙련된 기술자에 의해 여러가지 변화가 가능하다.
Claims (1)
- 부분적으로 경화된 나사선 시일을 형성시키기 위해 나사선 주형에서 열경화성수지에 열을 가하여 압축성형을 하고, 주형으로부터 부분적으로 경화된 나사선 시일을 제거하여 축위에 감고, 시일을 경화 시키기 위해 축과 부분적으로 경화된 시일에 열을 가한후, 축으로 부터 시일을 제거함을 특징으로하는 패킹시일 제조방법.
