Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a solid oxide fuel cell in which a dummy separator is inserted.
Solid oxide fuel cells generally operate at the highest temperature of the fuel cell (700-1000 ° C), and because all components are solid, they are simpler in structure compared to other fuel cells, and the loss and replenishment of electrolytes and corrosion There is no problem, no noble metal catalyst is needed, and it is easy to supply fuel through direct internal reforming. In addition, it has the advantage that thermal combined cycle power generation using waste heat is possible because the high-temperature gas is discharged. Due to these advantages, researches on solid oxide fuel cells are actively conducted.
A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is an electrochemical energy conversion device, and is composed of an oxygen ion conductive electrolyte and an air electrode and a fuel electrode located on both sides thereof. In the cathode, oxygen ions generated by the reduction reaction of oxygen move to the anode through the electrolyte and react with hydrogen supplied to the anode again to generate water. At this time, electrons are generated at the anode and electrons are consumed at the cathode. When the electrodes are connected to each other, electricity flows.
However, since the power generated from one unit cell based on the air electrode, the electrolyte and the fuel electrode is very small, a large amount of power can be output by stacking (stacking) several unit cells to form a fuel cell. It can be applied to various power generation system fields. For lamination, it is necessary that the air electrode of one unit cell and the fuel electrode of another unit cell be electrically connected, and a separator is used for this purpose. Further, a current collector is provided between the air electrode or the fuel electrode and the separator plate so that the air electrode or the fuel electrode can electrically and uniformly contact the separator plate.
On the other hand, when forming a stack to manufacture a solid oxide fuel cell as described above, in the case of using a thin plate forming separator, the upper or lower region is an intermediate region under the influence of the end plates located at the top and bottom of the fuel cell. Different surface pressure distributions are applied, which increases the possibility of problems in the stability of the fuel cell during stacking or operation.
One aspect of the present invention is to provide a solid oxide fuel cell to solve the imbalance of the surface pressure distribution in the stack to have a nearly constant surface pressure distribution level.

The manifold hole, the fuel input manifold hole, and the air discharge manifold hole provide a solid oxide fuel cell having a sealing material around the dummy separator plate so that air and fuel do not enter.
According to one aspect of the present invention, it is possible to provide a solid oxide fuel cell that can ensure the stack stability of the fuel cell by solving the imbalance of the surface pressure distribution in the stack.

However, since the power generated by one unit cell is quite small, the
Accordingly, the present invention provides a solid oxide fuel cell having a novel structure in order to solve the above problems. The present invention in one embodiment, the upper and lower end plate; A fuel cell stack provided between upper and lower end plates; Two or more dummy separation plates provided between the fuel cell stack and upper and lower end plates to make the surface pressure distribution in the stack constant; And a current collector provided between the dummy separation plates, wherein the dummy separation plate includes an air input manifold hole, a fuel input manifold hole, an air discharge manifold hole, and a fuel discharge manifold hole. The manifold hole, the fuel input manifold hole, and the air discharge manifold hole provide a solid oxide fuel cell having a sealing material around the dummy separator plate so that air and fuel do not enter.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described.

6 is a cross-sectional view schematically showing an example of a fuel cell according to the present invention. As shown in FIG. 6, in one embodiment of the
On the other hand, the dummy separator is preferably the same shape or material as the separator in the stack. Of course, the dummy separator and the separator included in the stack may have different shapes or different materials. However, in such a case, the load received by the separator and the dummy separator may be different during manufacturing of the fuel cell, and thus it may be difficult to stably secure the stack stability. In addition, the fuel cell is subjected to thermal deformation due to a high temperature when the fuel cell is operated. When the separation plate and the dummy separation plate are different shapes or materials, the deformation amount may be different, and thus the service life of the fuel cell may be shortened. . Furthermore, since the separation plate and the dummy separation plate must be manufactured, there is a disadvantage in that productivity may decrease and manufacturing cost may increase. Therefore, in order to secure stable stack stability and improve economic efficiency, the separator and the dummy separator are preferably the same shape or material.
On the other hand, the dummy separator may be provided with a cell frame like a separator plate, but this causes a problem that the cost increases. Therefore, as shown in Figure 6, it is preferable that the dummy separator is not provided with a cell frame.
As described above, the dummy separator inserted into the fuel cell should connect the electricity generated in the stack to the upper and lower end plates in series to drive the fuel cell. Therefore, when there are two or more dummy separators, it is preferable that a
The material of the current collector is not particularly limited, but in general, in the case of the cathode current collector, the electrical current and mechanical properties are not as low as those of the anode current collector, and are economically expensive. Therefore, the same material as that of the anode current collector may be used as the current collector, and typically, Ni-based alloys such as Ni-form having excellent mechanical properties and excellent price competitiveness may be used.
However, the current collector has a disadvantage in that oxidation easily occurs. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent air from flowing in between the dummy separation plates provided with the current collector or to maintain a reducing atmosphere. However, when the air is completely sealed around the manifold hole provided in the dummy separation plate using a sealing material so that air does not flow in, oxidation may occur due to residual oxygen remaining in the initial lamination step. In addition, oxygen trapped between the dummy separator due to the residual oxygen is expanded when heat is applied may cause deformation of the dummy separator. When supplying a fuel containing hydrogen in order to maintain a reducing atmosphere, the cell is not provided in the dummy separator, and thus there is a problem that fuel is wasted. That is, since the fuel does not participate in the reaction, the fuel utilization of the entire stack is lowered.
Accordingly, the solid oxide fuel cell of the present invention includes the components as described below.
7 is a plan view schematically showing an example of the dummy separator of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 7, the
On the other hand, unlike the manifold hole is sealed as described above, the fuel discharge manifold hole, that is, the fuel discharge manifold hole 540 'is preferably not provided with a sealing material around it. In other words, the fuel (hydrogen) discharged after being introduced into the cell and reacted is introduced into the dummy separator plate. As a result, the space between the dummy separators provided with the current collector forms a reducing atmosphere, thereby preventing oxidation of the current collector without reducing fuel utilization. Furthermore, since the space between the dummy separation plates is opened without being sealed, the problem caused by full sealing can be solved.
