Abstract
본 발명은 광학 데이터 기록을 위한, 바람직하게는 450 nm 이하의 파장을 갖는 블루 레이저 또는 650 nm 이하의 파장을 갖는 레드 레이저를 사용하는 광학 데이터 기록용 광학 층에서의 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 및 이들의 금속 착체의 용도에 관한 것이다. 또한, 본 발명은, 광학 층에서 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 또는 각각의 금속 착체를 사용하는, 블루 또는 레드 레이저의 방사선으로 정보를 기록 및 재생할 수 있는 WORM(write only read many) 유형의 광학 기록 매질에 관한 것이다.
Description
본 발명은 광학 데이터 기록을 위한, 바람직하게는 450 nm 이하의 파장을 갖는 블루(blue) 레이저 또는 650 nm 이하의 파장을 갖는 레드(red) 레이저를 사용하는 광학 데이터 기록용 광학 층에서의 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 및 이들의 금속 착체의 용도에 관한 것이다. 또한, 본 발명은, 광학 층에서 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 또는 각각의 금속 착체를 사용하는, 블루 또는 레드 레이저의 방사선으로 정보를 기록 및 재생할 수 있는 WORM(write only read many) 유형의 광학 기록 매질에 관한 것이다.
최근, 유기 염료는 다이오드-레이저 광학 저장 분야에서 상당한 주목을 받아 왔다. 시판 중인 기록가능 콤팩트 디스크(recordable compact disc; CD-R) 및 기록가능 디지털 다기능 디스크(recordable digital versatile disc; DVD-R)는 프탈로사이아닌, 헤미사이아닌, 사이아닌 및 금속화된 아조 구조에 기초한 다양한 염료 를 기록 층으로서 함유할 수 있다. 이들 염료는 레이저 파장 기준에 따라 이들의 각각의 분야에 적합하다. 염료 매질에 대한 기타 일반 요건으로는 강한 흡수성, 높은 반사율, 높은 기록 민감도, 낮은 열전도성, 광 및 열 안정성, 저장에 대한 내구성 및 비독성이 있다.
산업에서, 이들 염료는 박막을 제조하기 위한 스핀 코팅 공정에 적합해야 하는데, 즉 이들은 스핀 코팅 공정에 일반적으로 적용되는 유기 용매 중에서 충분히 가용성이어야만 한다.
WORM(write once read many) 유형 및 재기록가능(erasable) 유형의 광학 기록 매질은 물리적인 변형, 광학 특징의 변경, 및 기록 전후의 기록 층의 상 특징 및 자기 특징에 의해 초래되는 반사율의 변화를 감지함으로써 정보를 재생한다.
기록가능 콤팩트 디스크(CD-R)는 WORM 유형의 광학 기록 매질로서 널리 공지되어 있다. 최근, 4.7 기가바이트(GBytes) 이하까지 더욱 증가된 정보 저장 성능의 기록가능 디지털 다기능 디스크(DVD-R)가 시판되고 있다.
DVD-R 기술은 광원으로서 630 내지 670 nm의 파장을 갖는 레드 다이오드 레이저를 채택한다. 그러므로, 피트(pit) 크기 및 트랙 간격은 감소될 수 있고, 정보 저장 성능이 CD-R에 비해 6 내지 8배까지 증가될 수 있다.
블루-레이(Blu-ray)(등록상표) 디스크(블루-레이(등록상표) 디스크는 히타치 리미티드(Hitachi Ltd.), 엘지 전자(LG Electronics Inc.), 마츠시타 일렉트릭 인더스트리얼 캄파니 리미티드(Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd.), 파이오니어 코포레이션(Pioneer Corporation), 로얄 필립스 일렉트로닉스(Royal Philips Electronics), 삼성 전자(Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.), 샤프 코포레이션(Sharp Corporation), 소니 코포레이션(Sony Corporation) 및 톰슨 멀티미디어(Thomson Multimedia)에 의해 개발된 표준 상품이다)는 광학 기록 기술에서 이하의 것들에 대한 이정표가 될 것이다. 이의 신규 특징으로 인해, 12cm 직경의 디스크에 대해 기록 층당 27 기가바이트 이하까지 데이터 저장성이 증가된다. 405 nm의 파장을 갖는 블루 다이오드 레이저(GaN 또는 SHG 레이저 다이오드)를 채택함으로써, 피트 크기 및 트랙 간격은 추가로 감소될 수 있으며, 다시 등급의 순서에 의해 저장 성능이 증가할 수 있다.
광학 데이터 기록 매질의 구조는 당해 분야에 잘 공지되어 있다. 광학 데이터 기록 매질은 일반적으로 기판 및 기록 층, 및 광학 층을 포함한다. 통상적으로, 유기 중합체 물질의 디스크 또는 웨이버(waver)가 기판으로서 사용된다. 바람직한 기판으로는 폴리카보네이트(PC) 또는 폴리메틸메트아크릴레이트(PMMA)가 있다. 기판은 높은 광학 품질의 균일하고 단일한 표면을 제공해야만 한다. 광학 층은 높은 광학 품질 및 소정의 두께의 얇고 단일한 막으로 그 위에 침적된다. 최종적으로, 반사 층(예: 알루미늄, 금 또는 구리)은 광학 층에 침적된다.
진보된 광학 데이터 기록 매질은 추가의 층, 예컨대 보호 층, 부착 층 또는 부가 광학 층을 포함할 수도 있다.
광학 층의 얇고 단일한 막을 제공하기 위해, 물질은 통상적으로 스핀 코팅, 진공 증발, 제트 코팅, 롤링 코팅 또는 소우킹(soaking)에 의해 침적된다. 산업에서의 바람직한 공정은 약 70 내지 250 nm 두께의 광학 층을 형성하는 스핀 코팅이 다. 스핀 코팅 공정에 적용하기 위해, 광학 층의 물질은 유기 용매에서 매우 가용성이어야 한다.
피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료는 수년 동안 공지되어 왔다. 예를 들면, 하기 구조의 염료는 셀룰로스 아세테이트 섬유에 대해 매우 우수한 친화성을 갖는 것으로 개시되어 왔다(미국 특허 제 3,249,597 호).
이러한 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료는 또한 머리 염색 조성물에서의 용도에 대해 개시되어 왔다(예컨대, 미국 특허 제 3,955,918 호 참조).

놀랍게도, 아래 기술되는 바와 같은 특정 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 및 이들의 금속 착체가 광학 데이터 기록 매질을 위한 광학 층에서 염료 화합물로서 유용하다는 것이 밝혀졌다.
따라서, 본 발명은 아래 기술되는 바와 같이 광학 층에서의 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 및 이들의 금속 착체 염료의 용도, 및 광학 데이터 기록 매질을 위한 상기 광학 층에서 그의 용도에 관한 것이다.
더욱 특히, 본 발명은, 광학 층에서 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 또는 각각의 금속 착체를 사용하는, 405 내지 410 nm의 파장을 갖는 블루 레이저 또는 635 내지 640 nm의 파장을 갖는 레드 레이저의 방사선으로 정보를 기록 및 재생할 수 있는 WORM 유형의 광학 기록 매질에 관한 것이다.
본 발명은 광학 데이터 기록용 광학 층을 위한 하기 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료 화합물의 용도에 관한 것이다.

본 발명은 앞서 기재된 바와 같은 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료 화합물을 포함하는 광학 층, 및 광학 데이터 기록 매질을 위한 상기 광학 층의 용도에 관한 것이다. 또한, 본 발명에 따른 광학 층은 앞서 기재된 바와 같은 화학식 I 및/또는 II의 염료 화합물 2개 이상, 바람직하게는 2개의 혼합물을 포함할 수 있다.
화학식 I 또는 II의 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 화합물은 본 발명에 따른 광학 데이터 기록 매질을 위한 광학 층에 사용될 때 특히 바람직한 특성을 제공한다.
또한, 본 발명은 하기 단계들을 포함하는 광학 층의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
(a) 기판을 제공하는 단계;
(b) 유기 용매 중에 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료 화합물 또는 그의 혼합물을 용해시켜 용액을 형성하는 단계;
(c) 상기 용액(b)을 상기 기판(a)에 코팅하는 단계; 및
(d) 상기 용매를 증발시켜 염료 층을 형성하는 단계.
바람직한 기판으로는 폴리카보네이트(PC) 또는 폴리메틸메트아크릴레이트(PMMA)가 있다.

수득된 광학 층(염료 층)은 바람직하게는 70 내지 250 nm의 두께를 갖는다.
바람직한 양태에서, 본 발명은 350 내지 450 nm, 바람직하게는 약 405 nm의 레이저 파장의 고밀도 기록 물질, 예컨대 WORM 디스크 포맷에 적합한 광학 층을 제공한다. 본 발명은 630 내지 650 nm, 바람직하게는 약 635 nm의 레이저 파장의 고밀도 기록 물질, 예컨대 WORM 디스크 포맷에 적합한 광학 층을 제공한다. 블루 레이저 적용을 위한 광학 층이 바람직하다.
화학식 I 및 II의 염료 화합물은 필수 광학 특성(예컨대, 높은 흡수성, 높은 기록 민감성), 유기 용매 중의 탁월한 용해도, 탁월한 광 안정성 및 250 내지 350℃의 분해 온도를 갖는다.
모노아조 염료(I)의 제조
커플링 반응은 수성 및 비수성 용매 중에서 수행될 수 있다. 비수성 용매로는 알코올, 예컨대 메탄올, 에탄올, 프로판올, 뷰탄올, 펜탄올; 이극성 비양성자성 용매, 예컨대 DMF, DMSO, NMP; 수-불혼화성 용매, 예컨대 톨루엔 및 클로로-벤젠이 있다.
커플링은 바람직하게는 커플링 성분 및 다이아조 성분의 화학양론적 비율에서 수행된다. 커플링은 일반적으로 -30 내지 100℃, 바람직하게는 -10 내지 30℃, 특히 바람직하게는 -5 내지 10℃의 온도에서 수행된다.
커플링은 산성 및 알칼리성 매질 중에서 수행될 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 10 미만, 특히 바람직하게는 7.0 미만, 보다 특히 바람직하게는 5.0 미만의 pH이다.
금속 착체(II)의 제조
바람직하게는, 금속 염 1 당량 용액을 하기 목록으로부터 선택된 극성 용매 중에서 상응하는 염료 2 당량의 비등 용액과 반응시킴으로써 착체를 제조한다. 침전물은 하기 표준 방법에 따라 단리시킨다.
상기 공정에서 사용되는 용매는 바람직하게는 C1-8 알코올, 알킬나이트릴, 방향족, 다이메틸폼아마이드, N-메틸피롤리돈, 및 이들 용매 중 하나와 물의 혼합물, 또는 물 자체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된다. 상기 공정에 사용되는 가장 바람직한 용매는 C1-8 알코올이다.
광학 층의 제조
본 발명에 따른 광학 층은 화학식 I 또는 II의 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료, 또는 화학식 I 및/또는 II의 금속 착체들의 혼합물을 포함한다. 본 발명에 따른 광학 층의 제조방법은 하기 단계들을 포함한다.
(a) 기판을 제공하는 단계;
(b) 화학식 I의 염료 화합물 또는 그의 혼합물을 유기 용매 중에 용해시켜 용액을 형성하는 단계;
(c) 상기 용액(b)을 상기 기판(a)에 코팅하는 단계; 및
(d) 상기 용매를 증발시켜 염료 층을 형성하는 단계.
고밀도 광학 기록 매질의 제조
본 발명에 따른 광학 층을 포함하는 광학 기록 매질의 제조방법은 하기의 단계들을 추가로 포함한다.
(e) 염료 층에 금속 층을 스퍼터링하는 단계; 및
(f) 제 2 중합체계 층을 도포하여 디스크를 완성하는 단계.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 고밀도 데이터 저장 매질은, 바람직하게는 제 1 기판(그루브(groove)를 갖는 투명 기판); 기록 층(광학 층)(화학식 I 또는 II의 염료 화합물을 사용하여 상기 제 1 기판 표면에 형성됨); 반사 층(상기 기록 층에 형성됨); 제 2 기판(상기 반사 층과 부착 층을 연결하는 그루브를 갖는 투명 기판)을 포함하는 기록가능 광학 디스크이다.
고체 막 형태의 화학식 I 또는 II의 금속 착체는 흡수 밴드의 보다 긴 파장 플랭크(flank)에서 높은 굴절도를 갖고, 이는 바람직하게는 블루 레이저를 위한 350 내지 500 nm에서 또는 레드 레이저를 위한 500 내지 630 nm에서 2.0 내지 3.0의 피크 값을 달성한다. 또한, 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료 화합물은 목적하는 분광 범위에서 고반응성 및 높은 민감성 및 우수한 재생(playback) 특성을 갖는 매질을 제공할 수 있게 한다.
(a) 기판
도포된 층에 대한 지지체로서 작용하는 기판은, 유리하게는 반투명하거나(T > 10%) 또는 바람직하게는 투명하다(T > 90%). 지지체는 0.01 내지 10 mm, 바람직하게는 0.1 내지 5 mm의 두께를 가질 수 있다. 적합한 지지체는 예컨대 유리, 광물, 세라믹 및 열경화성 플라스틱 또는 열가소성 플라스틱이다. 바람직한 지지체는 유리 및 단일중합체 플라스틱 또는 공중합체 플라스틱이다. 적합한 플라스틱은 예컨대 열가소성 폴리카본에이트, 폴리아마이드, 폴리에스터, 폴리아크릴레이트 및 폴리메트아크릴레이트, 폴리유레테인, 폴리올레핀, 폴리바이닐 클로라이드, 폴리바이닐리덴 플루오라이드, 폴리이마이드, 열경화성 폴리에스터 및 에폭시 수지이다.
가장 바람직한 기판은 폴리카본에이트(PC) 또는 폴리메틸메트아크릴레이트(PMMA)이다.
기판은 순수 형태일 수 있거나, 또는 통상의 첨가제, 예컨대 기록 층을 위한 광 안정화제로서 JP 04/167239 호에 제안된 바와 같은 자외선 흡수제 또는 염료도 포함할 수 있다. 통상의 첨가제를 포함하는 경우, 지지 기판에 첨가된 염료가 기록 층의 염료에 비해 10 nm 이상, 바람직하게는 20 nm 이상까지 청색 이동된(hypso-chromically shifted) 흡수 최대 값을 가지는 것이 유리할 수 있다.
기판은 유리하게는 기록 또는 판독 파장의 입사광의 90% 이상이 투과 가능하도록 600 내지 700 nm 중 적어도 일부에 걸쳐 투명하다.
(b) 유기 용매
유기 용매는 C1-8 알코올, 할로젠-치환 C1-8 알코올, C1-8 케톤, C1-8 에터, 할로젠-치환 C1-4 알케인 및 아마이드로부터 선택된다.
바람직한 C1-8 알코올 또는 할로젠-치환 C1-8 알코올은 예컨대 메탄올, 에탄올, 아이소프로판올, 다이아세톤 알코올(DAA), 2,2,3,3-테트라플루오로프로판올, 트라이클로로에탄올, 2-클로로에탄올, 옥타플루오로펜탄올 또는 헥사플루오로뷰탄올이다.
바람직한 C1-8 케톤은 예컨대 아세톤, 메틸아이소뷰틸케톤, 메틸에틸케톤 또는 3-하이드록시-3-메틸-2-뷰탄온이다. 바람직한 할로젠-치환 C1-4 알케인은 예컨대 클로로폼, 다이클로로메테인 또는 1-클로로뷰테인이다. 바람직한 아마이드는 예컨대 다이메틸폼아마이드 또는 다이메틸아세트아마이드이다.
(c) 기록 층
기록 층(광학 층)은 바람직하게는 투명 기판과 반사 층 사이에 배열된다. 기록 층의 두께는 10 내지 1000 nm, 바람직하게는 30 내지 300 nm, 특히 약 80 nm, 예컨대 60 내지 120 nm이다.
화학식 I 또는 II의 금속 착체를 사용함으로써, 유리하게는 높은 굴절률 갖는 균일한 비결정질 저-산란성 기록 층이 얻어진다. 흡수 경계는 고체 상에서도 놀라울 정도로 경사져 있다. 다른 장점은 일광 및 낮은 전력 밀도의 레이저 조사 하의 높은 광 안정성과, 동시에 높은 전력 밀도의 레이저 조사 하의 높은 민감도, 균일한 스크립트 너비, 높은 명암 대비, 및 양호한 열 안정성 및 저장 안정성이다.
화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물을 단독으로 포함하는 대신, 기록 층은 본 발명에 따른 상기 화합물들의 혼합물을 포함할 수도 있다. 혼합물, 예컨대 이성체 또는 동족체의 혼합물 및 상이한 구조의 화합물들의 혼합물을 사용함으로써, 가용성이 종종 증가할 수 있고/있거나 비결정질 함량이 증가할 수 있다.
필요에 따라 안정성의 추가 증가를 위해, 필요에 따라 통상적인 양의 공지된 안정화제, 예컨대 JP 04/025493 호에 기술된 바와 같은 광 안정화제로서의 니켈 다이싸이올레이트를 첨가하는 것도 가능하다.
기록 층은 바람직하게는 굴절률에 실질적인 영향을 주기에 충분한 양, 예컨대 30중량% 이상, 더욱 바람직하게는 60중량% 이상, 가장 바람직하게는 80중량% 이상으로 화학식 II의 화합물 또는 상기 화합물의 혼합물을 포함한다.
다른 통상적인 성분은 예컨대 다른 발색단(예를 들어, WO-01/75873 호에 개 시된 발색단, 또는 300 내지 1000 nm에서 흡수 최대 값을 갖는 다른 발색단), 안정화제, 1O2-, 삼중-켄처(quencher) 또는 발광 켄처, 융점 저하제, 분해 촉진제 또는 광학 기록 매질에서 이미 기술된 임의의 다른 첨가제이다. 바람직하게는, 필요에 따라 안정화제 또는 형광-켄처를 첨가한다.
기록 층이 추가 발색단을 포함하는 경우, 기록 층은 원칙적으로 기록하는 동안에 레이저 조사에 의해 분해 또는 개질될 수 있는 임의의 염료일 수 있거나, 또는 기록 층은 레이저 조사에 대해 불활성을 나타낼 수 있다. 추가 발색단이 레이저 조사에 의해 분해되거나 개질되는 경우, 이것은 레이저 조사의 흡수에 의해 직접적으로 발생될 수 있거나, 또는 본 발명에 따른 화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물의 분해, 예컨대 열적 분해에 의해 간접적으로 유도될 수 있다.
자연적으로, 추가 발색단 또는 착색된 안정화제는 기록 층의 광학적 성질에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 그러므로, 추가 발색단 또는 착색된 안정화제를 사용하되, 이의 광학적 성질이 화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물의 광학적 성질에 가능한 적은 정도로 합치되거나, 또는 가능한 상이하거나, 또는 추가 발색단의 양이 소량으로 유지되는 것이 바람직하다.
화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물의 광학적 성질에 가능한 적은 정도로 합치하는 광학적 성질을 가진 추가 발색단을 사용하는 경우, 바람직하게는 이는 최장 파장 흡수 측면의 범위에 있는 경우이어야 한다. 바람직하게는 추가 발색단의 반전점(inversion point) 및 화학식 II의 화합물의 반전점의 파장은 각각 최대 값 20 nm, 특히 최대 값 10 nm이다. 이 경우, 추가 발색단 및 화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물이 레이저 조사에 대해 유사한 거동을 나타내어야 하고, 화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물에 의해 상승적으로 증강된 작용을 갖는 공지된 기록 매질을 공지된 추가 발색단으로서 사용할 수 있다.
화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물의 광학적 성질과 가능한 한 상이한 광학적 성질을 갖는 추가 발색단 또는 착색된 안정화제가 사용되는 경우, 이들은 유리하게는 화학식 I 또는 II의 금속 착체에 비해 청색 이동되거나 적색 이동된(batho-chromically shifted) 흡수 최대 값을 갖는다. 이러한 경우, 흡수 최대 값은 바람직하게는 각각 50 nm 이상, 특히 100 nm 이상이다.
그 예는 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료에 대해 청색 이동성을 나타내는 자외선 흡수제 또는 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료에 대해 적색 이동성을 나타내는 착색된 안정화제이고, 예컨대 NIR 또는 IR 범위 내에 있는 흡수 최대 값을 갖는다.
기록 층의 칼라-코드화 식별(color-coded identification), 기록 층의 칼라-마스킹(color-masking)("다이아몬드 염료") 또는 기록 층의 미적 외관을 증강시킬 목적으로 다른 염료를 첨가할 수도 있다. 이들 모든 경우, 추가 발색단 또는 착색된 안정화제는 바람직하게는 가능한 한 불활성인 광 및 레이저 조사에 대한 거동을 나타내야 한다.

발색단 또는 착색된 안정화제가 다른 목적을 위해 사용되는 경우, 이의 양은 바람직하게는 350 내지 700 nm의 범위에서 기록 층의 총 흡수에 대한 그의 기여도가 최대 20%, 바람직하게는 최대 10%가 될 정도로 적어야 한다. 이 경우, 부가적인 염료 또는 안정화제의 양은 기록 층을 기준으로 유리하게는 최대 50중량%, 바람직하게는 최대 10중량%이다.

당업자는 어느 농도의 첨가제가 목적에 가장 적합한 것인 지를 다른 광학적 정보 매질로부터 알 수 있거나 용이하게 확인할 것이다. 첨가제의 적합한 농도는 예컨대 0.001 내지 1000중량%, 바람직하게는 1 내지 50중량%이다.
(e) 반사 층
반사 층에 적합한 반사 물질은 특히 기록 및 재생에 사용된 레이저 조사의 양호한 반사도를 제공하는 금속, 예컨대 주기율표의 3, 4 및 5족 및 이들의 아족 금속을 포함한다. Al, In, Sn, Pb, Sb, Bi, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, Hg, Sc, Y, La, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Tb 및 Lu, 및 이들의 합금이 특히 적합하다. 알루미늄, 은, 구리, 금 또는 이들의 합금으로 이루어진 반사 층이 이들의 높은 반사도 및 제조의 용이함 때문에 특히 바람직하다.
(f) 덮개 층/보호 층
덮개 층/보호 층에 적합한 물질은 박막으로 지지체 또는 최상 층에 직접적으로 또는 접착 층을 통해 도포된 플라스틱을 포함한다. 추가로 개질될 수 있는, 양호한 표면 특성을 갖는 기계적으로 그리고 열적으로 안정한 플라스틱을 선택하는 것이 유리하다.
플라스틱은 열경화성 플라스틱 또는 열가소성 플라스틱일 수 있다. (예를 들어, 자외선 조사를 이용하여) 조사-경화된 보호 층이 바람직하고, 이 보호 층이 특히 제조하기 용이하고 경제적이다. 광범위하게 다양한 조사-경화성 물질이 공지되어 있다. 조사-경화성 단량체 및 올리고머의 예는 다이올, 트라이올 및 테트롤의 아크릴레이트 및 메트아크릴레이트, 아미노 기의 2개 이상의 오르토 위치에서 C1-C4알킬 기를 갖는 방향족 테트라카복실산 및 방향족 다이아민의 폴리이마이드, 및 다이알킬말레인이마이딜 기, 예컨대 다이메틸 말레인이마이딜 기를 갖는 올리고머이다.
본 발명에 따른 기록 매질은 부가 층, 예컨대 간섭 층도 가질 수 있다. 복수의 (예를 들어, 2개의) 기록 층을 갖는 기록 매질을 제작하는 것이 가능하다. 상기 물질의 구조 및 용도는 당업자에게 공지되어 있다. 존재한다면, 기록 층과 반사 층 사이 및/또는 기록 층과 기판 사이에 배열되어 있고, 유전성 물질, 예컨대 EP 353 393 호에 기술된 바와 같은 TiO2, Si3N4, ZnS 또는 실리콘 수지로 이루어진 간섭 층이 바람직하다.
본 발명에 따른 기록 매질은 당해 분야에 공지된 방법에 의해 제조될 수 있다.
코팅 방법
적합한 코팅 방법은 예컨대 함침, 주입(pouring), 브러쉬-코팅(brush- coating), 블레이드-도포(blade-application) 및 스핀-코팅(spin-coating)뿐만 아니라, 높은 진공 하에 수행되는 증기 증착 방법이다. 주입 방법을 이용하는 경우, 유기 용매 중의 용액이 일반적으로 사용된다. 용매가 사용되는 경우, 사용된 지지체가 사용되는 용매에 민감하지 않도록 주의를 기울여야 한다. 적합한 코팅 방법 및 용매는 예컨대 EP-A-401 791 호에 기술되어 있다.
기록 층은 염료 용액을 사용한 스핀-코팅에 의해 도포되고, 만족스러운 것으로 입증된 용매는 바람직하게는 알코올, 예컨대 2-메톡시에탄올, n-프로판올, 아이소프로판올, 아이소뷰탄올, n-뷰탄올, 아밀 알코올 또는 3-메틸-1-뷰탄올 또는 바람직하게는 불소화된 알코올, 예컨대 2,2,2-트라이플루오로에탄올 또는 2,2,3,3-테트라플루오로-1-프로판올, 옥타플루오로펜탄올 및 이들의 혼합물이다. 다른 용매 또는 용매 혼합물, 예컨대 EP-A-511 598 호 및 EP-A-833 316 호에 기술된 용매 혼합물도 사용될 수 있음이 이해될 것이다. 에터(다이뷰틸 에터), 케톤(2,6-다이메틸-4-헵탄온, 5-메틸-2-헥산온), 또는 포화 또는 불포화 탄화수소(톨루엔 또는 크실렌)가 예컨대 혼합물(예컨대, 다이뷰틸 에터/2,6-다이메틸-4-헵탄온) 또는 혼합된 성분의 형태로 사용될 수도 있다. 당업자에 의해 선택된 고체 성분을 함유하는 고 품질의 비용-효과적인 기록 층을 생성하는 용매 또는 용매 혼합물을 개발하기 위하여, 스핀-코팅 분야의 당업자는 그에게 익숙한 모든 용매뿐만 아니라 이의 2원 및 3원 혼합물을 일반적으로 및 관용적으로 시험할 것이다. 공정 공학의 공지된 방법을 상기 최적화 과정에 사용하여, 수행되는 실험의 횟수를 최소한으로 유지할 수 있다.
따라서, 본 발명은 또한 유기 용매 중의 화학식 I 또는 II의 화합물 용액이 피트를 갖는 기판에 도포되는 광학 기록 매질의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 도포는 스핀 코팅에 의해 실시하는 것이 바람직하다.
금속성 반사 층의 도포는 바람직하게는 스퍼터링, 진공 하의 증기 증착 또는 화학적 증기 증착(CVD)에 의해 수행된다. 스퍼터링 기법은 지지체에 대한 높은 접착도 때문에 금속성 반사 층의 도포에 특히 바람직하다. 상기 기법은 예컨대 전문 문헌[J.L. Vossen and W. Kern, "Thin Film Processes", Academic Press, 1978]에 공지되고 기술되어 있다.
판독 방법
본 발명에 따른 기록 매질의 구조는 주로 판독 방법에 의해 결정되고, 공지된 작용 원리는 투과도 또는 바람직하게는 반사도 변화의 측정을 포함하지만, 예컨대 투과도 및 반사도 대신에 형광도를 측정하는 것 또한 공지되어 있다. 기록 매질의 구조가 반사의 변화를 위한 것인 경우, 하기 구조가 사용될 수 있다. 투명 지지체/기록 층(경우에 따라 다층구조)/반사 층, 및 필요에 따라 보호 층(투명할 필요는 없음); 또는 지지체(투명할 필요는 없음)/반사 층/기록 층, 및 필요에 따라 투명한 보호 층. 첫 번째 경우, 광은 지지체 면으로부터 입사되는 반면, 두 번째 경우, 조사는 기록 층 면으로부터 입사되거나, 적절한 경우 보호 층 면으로부터 입사된다. 둘 다의 경우, 광 검출기는 광원과 동일한 면에 위치한다. 첫 번째로 언급한 본 발명에 따라 사용될 기록 매질의 구조가 일반적으로 바람직하다.
기록 매질의 구조가 광 투과의 변화를 위한 것인 경우, 하기 상이한 구조가 고려될 수 있다. 투명한 지지체/기록 층(경우에 따라 다층구조), 필요에 따라 투명한 보호 층. 기록 및 판독을 위한 광은 지지체 면 또는 기록 층 면으로부터 입사될 수 있거나, 적절한 경우 보호 층 면으로부터 입사될 수 있고, 이 경우 광 검출기는 항상 반대 면에 위치한다.
기록 층이 약 350 내지 450 nm 흡수 부류의 염료로 제조되는 경우, 적합한 레이저는 350 내지 500 nm의 파장을 갖는 레이저, 예컨대 405 내지 415 nm의 파장을 갖는 시판중인 레이저, 특히 반도체 레이저이다. 기록 층이 약 550 내지 650 nm 흡수 부류의 염료로 제조되는 경우, 적합한 레이저는 630 내지 650 nm의 파장을 갖는 레이저, 예컨대 635 내지 640 nm의 파장을 갖는 시판중인 레이저, 특히 반도체 레이저이다. 예를 들어, 마크 길이에 따라 레이저를 조정하고 레이저 조사의 초점을 기록 층에 맞춤으로써, 기록이 정확히 수행된다. 사용에 적합한 또 다른 방법이 현재 개발되고 있음이 전문 문헌으로부터 공지되어 있다.
본 발명에 따른 방법은 매우 양호한 기계적 및 열적 안정성, 높은 광 안정성, 피트의 날카로운 경계 대역에 의해 구별되는, 우수한 신뢰성 및 안정성을 갖는 정보의 저장을 가능하게 한다. 특별한 장점은 우수한 판독을 달성하게 할 수 있을 정도로 높은 명암 대비, 낮은 지터(jitter) 및 놀라울 정도로 높은 신호/소음 비율이다.
정보의 판독은 예컨대 문헌["CD-Player and R-DAT Recorder", Claus Biaesch-Wiepke, Vogel Buchverlag, Wurzburg 1992]에 기술된 바와 같이 레이저 조 사를 이용하여 흡수도 또는 반사도에서의 변화를 기록함으로써 당해 분야에 공지된 방법에 따라 수행된다.
본 발명에 따른 광학 기록 매질은 바람직하게는 WORM 유형의 기록가능 광학 디스크이다. 이것은 예컨대 재생가능 DVD(디지털 다기능 디스크)로서, 또는 컴퓨터용 저장 매질로서, 또는 신분증 또는 보안 카드로서 사용될 수 있거나, 또는 회절성 광학 부재, 예컨대 홀로그램의 제조에 사용될 수 있다.
따라서, 본 발명은 또한 본 발명에 따른 기록 매질을 사용하여, 정보를 광학적으로 기록하고 저장하고 재생하는 방법에 관한 것이다. 기록 및 재생은 유리하게는 최대 염료 흡수에 따라 350 내지 500 nm 또는 600 내지 650 nm의 파장 범위에서 일어난다.
본 발명에 따른 화학식 I 또는 II의 신규 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료가 당해 분야에 이미 공지된 염료에 비하여 감광성 및 광 및 열에 대한 안정성을 증강시키는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 발명에 따른 화학식 I 또는 II의 신규 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료는 250 내지 350℃의 분해 온도를 가진다. 또한, 이들 화합물은 유기 용매에서 매우 양호한 가용성을 나타내고, 이는 광학 층을 제조하기 위한 스핀-코팅 공정을 위해 이상적이다.
따라서, 기록가능 고밀도 광학 디스크의 기록 층에서 상기 신규 화합물을 사용하는 것이 매우 유리하다.
실시예 1: 리간드 합성
모노 아조 염료(1): 2-아미노-6-메틸피리딘 N-옥사이드 하이드로클로라이드 6.74g, 물 17ml 및 농축 염산(34%) 17.5g의 혼합물을 0℃에서 33% w/v 고체 나이트라이트 용액 9ml와 점진적으로 혼합하였다. 0℃에서 반응 1시간 후, 과도한 아질산을 설팜산으로 중화시켰다. 수산화나트륨 용액(30%)으로 pH를 4.2 내지 4.8로 유지시키면서, 다이아조화 용액을 수중 N,N'-다이메틸바비투르산(20ml) 6.31g과 아세트산(10ml)의 용액에 적가하였다. 배치를 3시간 동안 교반한 후, 흡인 여과시켰다. 침전물을 물로 세척하고 건조시켰다. 하기 화학식(1)의 염료 리간드 10.7g이 프레스케이크로 수득되었다.
수율: 79%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=411 nm
실시예 2: 금속 아조 착체 합성
실시예 1에 기재된 모노아조 염료물(1) 3.36g을 아세트산나트륨 트라이하이드라이트 1.36g과 함께 에탄올 70ml 중에 현탁시켰다. 가열 환류시킨 후, 구리 아세테이트 모노하이드레이트 1.00g을 첨가하였다. 염료 현탁액을 실온으로 냉각시키고, 생성된 침전물을 1시간 동안 교반하고, 여과하고, 잔여물을 탈염수로 세척하여 염을 제거하고 건조하였다. 하기 화합물(2) 3.64g이 수득된다.
수율: 99%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=417 nm, ε(417 nm에서)=56l/g.cm. DSC: 286℃에서 분해. 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 3
실시예 2의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 염료(3)을 제조하였다.
수율: 99%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=433 nm, ε(433 nm에서)=67l/g.cm. DSC: 334℃에서 분해. 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 4
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노-3-에톡시피리딘 N-옥사이드 하이드로클로라이드를 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 74%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=404 nm). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 금속화를 수행하였다. 염료(4)가 수득되었다.
수율: 92%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=435 nm, ε(435 nm에서)=68l/g.cm. DSC: 308℃에서 분해(30W/g). 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 5
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노-5-브로모-3-에톡시피리딘 N-옥사이드 하이드로클로라이드를 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 80%). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 금속화를 수행하였다. 염료(5)가 수득되었다.
수율: 56%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=441 nm, ε(441 nm에서)=60l/g.cm. DSC: 271℃에서 분해(17W/g). 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 6
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노-5-브로모피리 딘 N-옥사이드를 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 32%). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 금속화를 수행하였다. 염료(6)가 수득되었다.
수율: 82%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=438 nm, ε(438 nm에서)=63l/g.cm. 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 7
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 커플링 성분으로서 1-뷰틸-3-사이아노-4-메틸-2옥소-6-피리디놀을 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 84%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=448 nm). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하게 금속화를 수행하였다. 염료(7)가 수득되었다.
수율: 78%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=463 nm, ε(463 nm에서)=86l/g.cm. DSC: 283℃에서 분해(65W/g). 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 8
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노피리딘 N-옥사이드 하이드로클로라이드를 사용하고 커플링 성분으로서 3-메틸-1-페닐-2-피라졸린-5-온을 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 86%). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하게 금속화를 수행하였다. 염료(8)가 수득되었다.
수율: 83%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=425 nm, ε(425 nm에서)=64l/g.cm. DSC: 300℃에서 분해(60W/g).
실시예 9
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노-3-에톡시피리딘 N-옥사이드 하이드로클로라이드를 사용하고 커플링 성분으로서 1,3-다이에틸-2-싸이오바리비투르산을 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 85%). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 금속화를 수행하였다. 염 료(9)가 수득되었다.
수율: 81%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=463 nm, ε(463 nm에서)=76l/g.cm. 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 10
실시예 9의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 염료(10)를 수득하였다.
수율: 80%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=452 nm, ε(452 nm에서)=65l/g.cm. DSC: 240℃에서 분해(24W/g). 20g/l까지의 TFP 중의 용해도.
실시예 11
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노-3-에톡시피리딘 N-옥사이드 하이드로클로라이드를 사용하고 커플링 성분으로서 1-에틸-6-(다이사이아노메틸렌)-2-피리디놀을 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 43%). 그 다음, 실시예 2의 방법과 동일하되 Cu를 Ni로 교체하여 금속화를 수행하였다. 염료(11)가 수득되었다.
수율: 85%. λ최대(CH2Cl2)=560 nm, ε(560 nm에서)=132l/g.cm. DSC: 308℃에서 분해(7W/g).
실시예 12
실시예 1의 방법과 동일하되 다이아조늄 전구체로서 2-아미노-3-하이드록시피리딘 N-옥사이드를 사용하고 커플링 성분으로서 1-에틸-6-(다이사이아노메틸렌)-2-피리디놀을 사용하여 모노아조 염료를 제조하였다(수율: 66%).
λ최대(CH2Cl2)=602 nm, ε(602 nm에서)=105l/g.cm. DSC: 260℃에서 분해(60W/g).
적용예
피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 화합물의 광학 및 열 특성을 연구하였다. 염료는 목적 파장에서 높은 흡수율을 보였다. 또한, 흡수 스펙트럼의 형태(디스크 반사율 및 깨끗한 마크 가장자리 형성에 대해 여전히 중요함)는 350 내지 700 nm에 포함되는 하나의 주요 밴드로 구성된다.
더욱 정확하게, 굴절률의 n 값은 1.0 내지 2.7로 평가되었다(실시예 1 참조). 광학 데이터의 기록에 사용하기 위한 켄처에 의해 일반적으로 안정화되는 상업적인 염료에 필적할 수 있는 광학 안정화를 발견하였다.
필요한 온도 범위에서 열 분해의 급격한 역치는 광학 데이터 기록용 광학 층에 적용하기 바람직한 것으로 추정되는 신규 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료를 특성화한다.
결론적으로, 상기 피리딘 N-옥사이드계 아조 염료 화합물은 광학 데이터의 기록, 특히 블루 또는 레드 레이저 범위의 차세대 광학 데이터 기록 매질에서 염료를 사용하는 산업에 주로 요구되는 사양에 속한다.

- 제 3 항에 있어서,M이 니켈, 구리 또는 아연으로부터 선택되고,R1이 H이고,R2가 Br이고,R3이 수소이고,R4가 OC2H5이고,R7 및 R8이 C2H5이고,X2가 S이고,X3이 O인 용도.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 4 항 중 어느 한 항에 정의된 화학식 I 또는 II에 따른 염료 화합물 하나 이상, 또는 제 1 항 내지 제 4 항 중 어느 한 항에 정의된 화학식 I 또는 II에 따른 염료 화합물 2개 이상의 혼합물을 포함하는 광학 층.
- 하기 단계들을 포함하는, 제 5 항에 따른 광학 층의 제조방법:(a) 기판을 제공하는 단계;(b) 유기 용매 중에, 제 1 항 내지 제 4 항 중 어느 한 항에 정의된 화학식 I 또는 II의 염료 화합물 또는 그의 혼합물을 용해시켜 용액을 형성하는 단계;(c) 상기 용액(b)을 상기 기판(a)에 코팅하는 단계; 및(d) 상기 용매를 증발시켜 염료 층을 형성하는 단계.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 기판이 폴리카보네이트(PC) 또는 폴리메틸메트아크릴레이트(PMMA)인 제조방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 유기 용매가 C1-8 알코올, 할로젠-치환 C1-8 알코올, C1-8 케톤, C1-8 에터, 할로젠-치환 C1-4 알케인, 또는 아마이드로부터 선택되는 제조방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 C1-8 알코올 또는 할로젠-치환 C1-8 알코올이 메탄올, 에탄올, 아이소프로판올, 다이아세톤 알코올(DAA), 2,2,3,3-테트라플루오로프로판올, 트라이클로로에탄올, 2-클로로에탄올, 옥타플루오로펜탄올 또는 헥사플루오로뷰탄올이고;상기 C1-8 케톤이 아세톤, 메틸아이소뷰틸케톤, 메틸에틸케톤, 또는 3-하이드록시-3-메틸-2-뷰탄온이고;상기 할로젠-치환 C1-4 알케인이 클로로폼, 다이클로로메테인 또는 1-클로로뷰테인이고;상기 아마이드가 다이메틸폼아마이드 또는 다이메틸아세트아마이드인 제조방법.
- 제 5 항에 따른 광학 층을 포함하는 광학 기록 매질.
