Abstract

PURPOSE: A preheating method and apparatus is provided to achieve an improved starting ability by setting preheating time to be different in accordance with the water coolant temperature and external air temperature. CONSTITUTION: A preheating method comprises the steps of detecting water coolant temperature and external air temperature when the starting key switch is turned on, and determining preheating time according to the detected temperature; and preheating the air contained in the combustion chamber by operating a preheating plug during the determined preset time.
