Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a multi-layer cage-type chamber device for inhalation toxicity testing. If the 20th century was the era of micro-era, then the 21st century can be called the Nano era. Nanotechnology can be broadly categorized into nanomaterials, nano devices, and environmental and biotechnology-based technologies, depending on the application field.
These nanotechnologies are artificially manipulated atomic or molecular ultrafine materials to create materials or devices that have new properties and functions that can be used today in information technology (IT) and other biotechnology ) Is a state-of-the-art technology.
However, although nanotechnology offers many benefits and benefits that are perceived as a new technological revolution throughout the industry, it is also a well-known fact that these potential risks It can be attributed to the characteristics of nanotechnology.
That is, the smaller the particle, the larger the ratio of the specific surface area. Small particles having such a large specific surface area ratio increase the toxicity when reacted with the biotissues. For example, some nanoparticles such as titanium dioxide, carbon powder, It has already been revealed through academic experiments that the smaller the size, the more toxic it becomes, such as inflammation. In addition, ultrafine nanoparticles may not penetrate into the airways or mucous membranes but may penetrate deep into the alveoli or migrate to the brain. Moreover, recent studies have shown that nanoparticles accumulate in the body to cause diseases or central nervous disorders .
Therefore, in recent years, along with the development of nanotechnology, the stability evaluation of nanotechnology has also been actively carried out. As a representative example, the evaluation test of nanoparticle inhalation toxicity, which evaluates toxicity occurring when the nanoparticles are inhaled and accumulated in the human body, It is being studied against animals. The toxicity data obtained through the evaluation of inhalation toxicity of nanoparticles are used as various basic data on nanoparticles throughout the industry such as nanofibers, cosmetics, semiconductors, and drug delivery systems.
In recent years, importance of nanotechnology has been emphasized, and various types of tests such as efficacy, safety and environmental impact evaluation of nanoparticles on the human body have been carried out as well as tests for inhalation toxicity of nanoparticles. Are conducted in much the same way as the inhalation toxicity evaluation test in that they evaluate the effect of nanoparticles on the human body. Hereinafter, various tests on such nanoparticles are collectively referred to as an inhalation toxicity evaluation test.
Inhalation toxicity evaluation test for such nanoparticles is generally performed by generating nanoparticles in an aerosol state and supplying the nanoparticles to a storage chamber of a predetermined size, exposing the nanoparticles to the storage chamber, And the like. At this time, the experimental animals are kept in a separate breeding cage for a certain period of time, and after they are sufficiently purified, they are put into an inhalation toxicity evaluation test in an optimal health condition.
These nano particle inhalation toxicity assessment tests have recently been required to test various nanoparticles, and the inhalation toxicity evaluation test apparatus capable of carrying out such tests is generally a large-scale storage chamber and an air circulation facility It is required to have a large scale and high installation cost and operating cost. Therefore, the test is being conducted only by a professional large research institute. However, such a test is not widely performed in a small laboratory such as a laboratory of a university, As a result, there was a problem that inhalation toxicity evaluation tests for various nanoparticles were not sufficiently performed.
In addition, in the case of the inhalation toxicity evaluation test in a small scale environment, accuracy and reliability of the test result are lowered because the nano particles are not uniformly distributed in the storage chamber, and the space efficiency of the test apparatus is poor There is a problem that the test is performed on a large number of experimental animals.

In addition, the upper partition may be installed so as to be linearly movable so as to be drawn out to the front portion of the outer case through the transparent door.
In addition, a discharge hole may be formed in a side wall of the outer case so as to communicate with a slurry storage portion of the separation diaphragm, and the discharge line may be formed in a side wall of the outer case to communicate with the slurry storage portion through the discharge hole, Can be absorbed.
In addition, the lower partition of the separation diaphragm may be arranged to be inclined downward toward the discharge hole.
Also, the sub-supply lines may be arranged to be located in the internal upper space of the exposure chamber, and the supply nozzles may be mounted on each of the sub-supply lines.
In addition, a diffusion plate may be mounted on the lower part of the sub supply line and the supply nozzle so that the aerosol particles are diffused and supplied to the exposure chamber. Preferably, the feed nozzle further comprises a diffusion nozzle for diffusing and providing the aerosol particles into the exposure chamber.
In addition, a central partition plate may be arranged vertically in the interior of the outer case so that the inner space of the outer case can be partitioned into left and right sides, and the partition plates may be disposed on the right and left sides of the center partition, respectively .
Further, the main supply lines may be arranged in the vertical direction along the center partition, and the sub supply lines may be branched from the main supply line to the left and right, respectively.
The apparatus may further include a particle concentration adjusting device for adjusting the concentration of the aerosol particles supplied to each of the exposure chambers through the sub supply line independently for each of the exposure chambers.
According to the present invention, the plurality of exposure chambers are separately partitioned into independent chambers in the outer case, and the aerosol particles are supplied to the respective exposure chambers, so that the same concentration of aerosol particles can be supplied to each of the exposure chambers As a result, the distribution of the aerosol particles in the entire inner space of the outer case can be maintained uniformly throughout, thereby enabling the inhalation toxicity test to be carried out on a relatively larger number of experimental animals. It is possible to obtain accurate test results.
In addition, since the plurality of exposure chambers are divided into the upper and lower laminated layers, the horizontal area of the chamber device can be reduced as a whole, and the spatial efficiency is improved in terms of space. As a result, It is possible to reduce the stress of the test animal and to improve the accuracy of the test result. Furthermore, by forming a plurality of exposure chambers in the form of stacked upper and lower layers to evaluate the inhalation toxicity to a large number of experimental animals, it is possible to conduct an inhalation toxicity experiment with excellent energy efficiency and being eco-friendly.
Further, by constituting one main supply line and a plurality of sub supply lines branched therefrom in order to supply the aerosol particles to the plurality of exposure chambers, not only the supply line can be simplified, It can be easily carried out through the supply line, and the operation method thereof is very convenient.
In addition, an excrement storage unit capable of temporarily storing excreta of laboratory animals is formed on a separation diaphragm for partitioning a plurality of exposure chambers, and excretion gas such as ammonia generated from excretion is discharged to the outside through a discharge line sucking the exposure chamber Thereby making it possible to maintain the living environment of the laboratory animal cleaner and improve the accuracy of the test results.
Further, the distribution state of the aerosol particles in each of the exposure chambers is made more uniform through the arrangement structure of the sub supply lines and the supply nozzles, thereby further improving the accuracy of the test results.

The multi-layer cage-type chamber device for inhalation toxicity testing according to an embodiment of the present invention is a chamber device that can perform nanoparticle inhalation toxicity test on a plurality of experimental animals. The chamber device includes an
The
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the exposure chamber EC, which is formed in such a way as to be separated and partitioned by the
The
The
The
With this structure, aerosol particles are supplied from the
Further, since the aerosol particles are supplied through the plurality of
That is, when the size of the exposure chamber EC is relatively large, it is relatively difficult to uniformly maintain the distribution state of the aerosol particles in the inner space of the exposure chamber EC. In this case, The distribution state of the aerosol particles in each of the exposure chambers EC can be kept relatively more uniform by providing the exposure chambers EC with a relatively small size and supplying the same concentration of the aerosol particles to the exposure chambers EC, The distribution state of the aerosol particles in the entire inner space of the
Meanwhile, the animal (T) to be fed into the exposure chamber (EC) must be fed with food so that it can be normally fed during the toxicity test period. To this end, the animal cage (30) A food can 31 is provided. This feeding
That is, it is preferable that the
Meanwhile, the laboratory animal T which is kept in the state of being put in the
The
When the
The area where the excrement T 1 is seated substantially in the
Although it has been described above that a plurality of exposure chambers EC partitioned into the
That is, the multi-layer cage-type chamber apparatus according to another embodiment of the present invention can adjust the concentration of the aerosol particles supplied to each of the exposure chambers EC through the
As shown in FIG. 4, the plurality of exposure chambers EC partitioned into the
