Description
The present invention relates to a thermoelectric conversion module and a manufacturing method thereof.
Thermoelectric conversion materials generate electricity when given a temperature difference (Seebeck effect), and conversely, they cool when electricity is passed (Peltier effect), so they are used as thermoelectric conversion elements such as power generation elements and cooling elements. Yes. According to the Seebeck effect, since heat can be directly converted into electricity, power generation utilizing exhaust heat is possible, and thermoelectric conversion elements are expected as one of clean energy technologies. Known thermoelectric conversion materials constituting the thermoelectric conversion element include bismuth-tellurium-based materials, bismuth-antimony-based materials, bismuth-tellurium-antimony-based materials, and the like.
The electromotive force due to the Seebeck effect is proportional to the temperature difference between the high temperature portion and the low temperature portion of the thermoelectric conversion element. For this reason, bulk thermoelectric conversion elements are often used in thermoelectric conversion modules including thermoelectric conversion elements. However, since it is difficult to perform microfabrication in a bulk thermoelectric conversion element, it may be difficult to reduce the size of the thermoelectric conversion element. As a result, the power output density is small and the power generation unit price is high.
Therefore, a technique relating to a highly efficient thermoelectric conversion element is known in order to increase the power output density. For example, Patent Document 1 describes a thermoelectric conversion element having thermoelectric conversion material particles having a diameter of 1 μm or more and 10 μm or less and a coating layer having an average film thickness of 1 μm or less that coats the periphery of the thermoelectric conversion material particles. .
In the thermoelectric conversion element described in Patent Document 1, metal oxide fine particles are used as a binder. However, since such metal oxide fine particles do not have thermoelectric conversion ability, the thermoelectric conversion efficiency may decrease. Further, Patent Document 1 does not describe that the thermoelectric conversion element is miniaturized to improve the power output density.
This invention is made | formed in view of the said subject, and the subject of this invention is providing the thermoelectric conversion module which can improve the output density of electric power conventionally, and its manufacturing method.
The present inventors have intensively studied to solve the above problems. As a result, a thermoelectric conversion element material containing vanadium oxide crystallized glass, the electrode and the thermoelectric conversion element are joined by at least amorphous vanadium oxide contained in the vanadium oxide crystallized glass. I found that the problem could be solved.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the thermoelectric conversion module which can improve the output density of electric power conventionally, and its manufacturing method can be provided.

<Thermoelectric

In the present specification, the first endothermic peak start temperature shown in FIG. 2 is the glass transition point T g (corresponding to viscosity = 10 13.3 poise), and the first endothermic peak peak temperature is the yield point T d (viscosity = 10 11.0 poise), the peak temperature of the second endothermic peak is defined as the softening point T s (corresponding to viscosity = 10 7.65 poise), and the starting temperature of the first exothermic peak is defined as the crystallization temperature T c . In addition, each temperature shall be the temperature calculated | required by the tangent method. The characteristic temperatures (glass transition point T g , yield point T d , softening point T s and crystallization temperature T c ) described in the present specification are based on the above definitions.
The thermoelectric
As described above, the thermoelectric

Specifically, for example, the N-
Further, for example, the thermoelectric

Any coating method may be used at the time of coating. For example, a thick dry film resist used in manufacturing ribs for plasma display panels can be used. Specifically, a patterned dry photoresist is placed on the

<電極12>
The
The
Furthermore, the
Here, the bonding interface between the thermoelectric

In FIG. 3B, for the sake of simplification of illustration, the crystal 101 (vanadium oxide crystal) included in the thermoelectric
As shown in FIG. 3, the thermoelectric

[2. Method for manufacturing thermoelectric conversion element]
Next, a method for manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion element according to the present embodiment (hereinafter simply referred to as “the manufacturing method of the present embodiment”) will be described with reference to the drawings. As described above, the amorphous material contained in the thermoelectric conversion element of this embodiment is preferably an amorphous vanadium oxide. Therefore, in the following description, the manufacturing method of this embodiment will be described by taking amorphous vanadium oxide as an example of an amorphous material.

<Glass layer forming step>
In this step, first, vanadium oxide glass powder is made into a paste. In this embodiment, amorphous vanadium oxide glass is contained in this powder. Then, the paste is applied onto the electrodes by, for example, a stencil printing method, a screen printing method, a patterning method using a thick film resist used in manufacturing a rib of a plasma display panel. Thereby, the vanadium oxide glass layer containing vanadium oxide glass is formed.
The paste to be applied usually contains vanadium oxide glass and a solvent. Furthermore, a resin binder may be included as appropriate. The particle size of the vanadium oxide glass contained is not particularly limited, but considering the applicability at the time of application, the average particle size is preferably 5 μm or less. Furthermore, the solvent contained is not particularly limited, but butyl carbitol acetate and α-terpineol are preferred. In addition, the resin binder contained is not particularly limited, but ethyl cellulose and nitrocellulose are preferable. However, when α-terpineol is used as the solvent, the resin binder may not be used.

<Heat treatment process>
In this step, heat treatment is performed on the formed vanadium oxide glass layer. The heat treatment conditions are not particularly limited as long as vanadium oxide crystals can be precipitated in the layer. For example, the substrate coated with the paste is first dried at a temperature of about 423 K for 10 minutes to volatilize the solvent. Then, the vanadium oxide glass layer is formed by pre-baking at a temperature of about 573 K for 30 minutes to remove the binder, and baking at a temperature equal to or higher than the softening point T s of the glass. Thereafter, heat treatment is performed at a temperature equal to or higher than the crystallization temperature Tc, so that vanadium oxide crystallized glass containing vanadium oxide crystals is generated. However, not all the amorphous material is crystallized, and a part remains without being crystallized. In this embodiment, since amorphous vanadium oxide glass is used, it joins with the
The atmosphere during the heat treatment is not particularly limited. However, when N-type vanadium oxide crystallized glass is produced, it is preferable to use, for example, the atmosphere, a vacuum, or an inert gas (nitrogen, argon, etc.) atmosphere. Moreover, when producing | generating P type vanadium oxide crystallized glass, it is preferable to set it as reducing atmospheres, such as a hydrogen gas atmosphere, for example. By using a reducing atmosphere, vanadium oxide VO 2 or V 2 O 3 having at least a low valence such as trivalent or tetravalent vanadium can be deposited.
In the case of using vanadium oxide glass having no softening point, P and N bipolar glass powders prepared in advance and another glass powder that softens below the temperature at which these glass powders melt are mixed. The mixed glass powder may be formed into a paste by the above method and then applied and fired.
In addition, in order to improve the durability of the
<その他>
<Others>
In the manufacturing method of this embodiment, arbitrary processes other than the said process can be included. For example, after a P-type vanadium oxide crystallized glass is once generated by heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere, the P-type vanadium oxide crystallized glass is converted into an N-type vanadium oxide by heat treatment in a vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. It can also be converted into a crystallized glass. In this case, the electric resistance of the thermoelectric
In addition, after the P-type vanadium oxide crystallized glass is generated, an N-type vanadium oxide crystallized glass can be newly generated continuously. Specifically, for example, by applying a paste containing vanadium oxide glass on a part of the
Further, for example, a

Next, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to examples. However, the present invention is not limited to the following examples.

<Preparation of paste>
Table 1 shows the raw material composition of the glass used and the characteristic points (glass transition point, yield point, softening point, and crystallization temperature) of the glass (TE1, TE2, EL1, and EL2) obtained from the differential thermal analysis curve. EL1 is sealing glass for sealing the end of the thermoelectric conversion module, and EL2 is electrode forming glass for forming an electrode provided on the support substrate.
Glasses TE1, TE2, EL1, and EL2 were prepared as follows. The composition of the glass melt is uniform in an electric furnace heated to 1373K in the case of TE1 glass and TE2 glass and 1073K in the case of EL1 glass and EL2 glass. The mixture was melted for 1 hour with stirring. Thereafter, it was cooled and solidified on a stainless steel plate heated to 423K to 475K. Furthermore, the melted glass was finely pulverized to about several μm by a stamp mill and a jet mill. In addition, it was confirmed by X-ray diffraction that all the glasses were amorphous.
Next, a TE2 glass powder having a softening point is mixed with a mixed solution of 50% by mass of ethyl cellulose (EC) and butyl carbitol acetate (BCA) (the mass ratio of EC to BCA is 4%), and thermoelectric conversion is performed. A glass paste A for device material was prepared. Moreover, the conductive paste B for electrode formation was prepared. Specifically, the EL2 glass powder shown in Table 1 and silver particles having a particle size of several μm whose volume ratio to the EL2 glass powder is 80% are mixed, and 50% by mass of ethylcellulose ( EC) and a mixed solution of butyl carbitol acetate (BCA) (the weight ratio of EC to BCA was 4%) was prepared.
In addition, as a glass paste for sealing the upper and lower support substrates together, an appropriate amount of EL1 glass powder having a softening point lower than the softening point of the N-type or P-type crystallized glass powder or the glass powder of the conductive paste. The glass paste C for sealing was prepared by adding the α-terpineol solvent.

The
Evaluation of thermoelectric characteristics was performed as follows. The temperature of the
