Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the deflective stiffness of a processing table by installing a ring-shaped journal to the base through a ring-shaped flange, fixing one peripheral surface of the flange to the base, and press fitting the flange into a ring- shaped groove formed in the base. CONSTITUTION: A ring-shaped journal 2 is installed on the base 1 through a ring-shaped flange 14, and one peripheral surface of the flange 14 is fixed to the base 1 and the flange is press fitted into a ring-shaped groove formed in the base 1. A spindle 3 of a rotor assembly is installed on a static pressure guide 7 at the top face of the journal 2 by the bearing surface 6. A plurality of pockets 10 are furnished at the bottom face of the journal 2, being located on the opposite side to pocket 5 provided at the static pressure guide 7, so as to constitute a static pressure preloading mechanism equipped with a pressure ring 9. These pockets 5 and 10 are communicated with a fluid supply mechanism.
