Abstract

1499551 Grinding SEIKO SEIKI KK 31 July 1975 [2 Aug 1974 28 Oct 1974] 32076/75 Heading B3D [Also in Division F2] A spindle assembly comprises a spindle 7 mounted in a housing 48 by bearings 8, 9, 14 and 15, lubrication of the bearings is enabled by oil jet nozzles 25 and 28 which are supplied with oil either via oil inlet path 24 and groove 26 in the spacer 11 or via oil inlet path 27, groove 29 and path 32 the used oil is then drained off via paths 33, 34, 35 and 36, entry of dust from outside through the gap between the opening in the housing through which one end of the spindle projects and the spindle itself is prevented by means of an air seal which consists of an annular recess 39 in the centre of the bearing cover 12 the air seal being connected to an air supply via an air path 40. The assembly may be used in an internal grinding machine.
