Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize a magnetic tape in its traveling characteristics at the time of reproducing the beginning part of music by stopping the magnetic tape in its travel for a prescribed period of time when a music interval is detected, executing then a reproducing operation and changing over to a program searching state after a further prescribed period of time. CONSTITUTION:When the music interval is detected under a high speed reproducing state, an H-level signal is outputted to an output terminal 20 of a music interval detecting circuit 19 and then inputted to a control circuit 10, so that signals outputting to a reproducing output terminal 11 and a fast forwarding output terminal 12 respectively are reversed to be of an L-level and also the H-level signal is outputted to a stopping output terminal 14, so that a stop changeover circuit 18 is operated to stop a drive mechanism. The signal outputted to the stopping output terminal 14 is reversed to be of the L-level after a lapse of the prescribed period of time, and the H-level signal is outputted to the reproducing output terminal 11, so that a reproducing changeover circuit 15 is operated to effect the reproducing state, and after a lapse of the further prescribed period of time, the high speed reproducing operational state is effective again when a control switch 21 is closed.
