Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a clearance between a rotor and a housing by manufacturing the rotor by way of mixing a metal having smaller thermal coefficient of expansion than an Al based material into the base material. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 3 using steel at its drive shaft 3a and Al based composite material at its body. The Al based composite material is composed of a composite body obtained by mixing a ceramics porous member 6 having a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion than the coefficient of the basic material into an Al alloy matrix 5. It is thus possible to eliminate the necessity for setting a large clearance in the case for the Al alloy made rotor to cope with the fluctuation in size due to thermal expansion by using such a rotor 3 formed of the composite material.
