Abstract
PURPOSE:To completely prevent the air containing steam from penetrating by a method wherein sealing materials are arranged doubly and a gas for laser use, e.g. either helium or nitrogen for a CO2 laser, is fed between these two sealing materials at a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:One pair of sealing materials 37, 38 are arranged at end parts of individual pipes 3, 6, 35 at definite intervals along an axial direction of the pipes. It is desirable that an overlap width at a squeezed part of the sealing material 37 on the side of the air is reduced and that this part is leaky. Paths 39, 40, 41 leading from a part which is situated between the sealing materials 37, 38 where the individual pipes 3, 6, 35 come into contact with cathode parts 5 to piping parts 32, 33 are formed at the cathode parts 5. Nitrogen gas whose gas pressure is higher than atmospheric pressure is fed to the part which is situated between the sealing materials 37, 38 and where the individual pipes 3, 6, 35 come into contact with the cathode parts. This nitrogen gas leaks to the side of the air through a gap at the sealing material 37 on the side of the air. As a result, it is possible to prevent the air from penetrating.
