Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a corrosion-resisting alloy steel combining ductility with toughness and having high hardness, by mixing a powder of a matrix alloy having a specific composition consisting of Cr, Mo, Cu, Ni, Nb, and Fe with a TiC powder in a specific proportion and then subjecting the resulting powder mixture to sintering. CONSTITUTION:A TiC powder (20-60% by volume) and an argon atomized powder (40-80%) as matrix alloy are mixed. The above matrix alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 9.0-25.0% Cr, 0.5-4.0% Mo, 0.2-2.0% Cu, 0.2-1.0% Ni, 0.2-1.5% Nb, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. By sintering the above mixture, the corrosion-resisting alloy steel having high hardness and superior corrosion resistance and combining ductility with toughness can be obtained. When the above corrosion-resisting alloy steel is applied to a member to be covered, it is preferably to improve the hardness, ductility, corrosion resistance, etc., of the above alloy steel to greater extents by subjecting the above alloy steel after sintering to hot isostatic pressing treatment to join to the member and then applying heating to the above at 500-800 deg.C.
