Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a high-strength structural sintering material having superior dimensional stability at the time of heat treatment by using pulverized graphite of a specific grain diameter as a C source at the time of manufacturing a sintering material having a specific composition consisting of Mo, Mn, C, and Fe. CONSTITUTION:At the time of manufacturing a sintering material having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.2-1.5% Mo, 0.05-0.25% Mn, 0.3-0.7% C, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, powdered graphite in which the maximum grain diameter and average grain diameter are regulated to <=35mum and <=10mum, respectively, is used as the above C source. Mo, Mn, and C as the above alloy components synergistically improve hardenability and strengthen a matrix, by which the strength of structural machine parts is improved. Further, by using pulverized graphite as a C source, C distribution in a sintering material is uniformized and the directional variance of dimensional changes at the time of heat treatment is reduced. By this method, the sintering material excellent in suitability for machine parts, etc., can be obtained.
