Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture a more rapidly spheroidizable steel material by specifying conditions during the cooling of a steel having a specified compsn. after hot working so as to form a specified structure. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of, by weight, 0.10-2.00% C, 0.10-1.50% Si, 0.10-2.00% Mn, <=0.12% S and the balance Fe or further contg. one or more among 0.10-2.00% Ni, 0.10-15.00% Cr, 0.10-3.00% Mo, 0.10-19.00% W and 0.10$2.20% V is heated to the Ac3 or Accm point or above and hot worked. This hot working is finished in a temp. range above the recrystallization temp. of austenite. The resulting steel material is cooled to a temp. range below the Ms point at 1.5-100 deg.C/sec cooling rate to form a martensite, bainite or martensite+bainite structure.
