Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the longitudinal crack resistance of a steel plate by hot rolling and heat treating a slab for a low yield ratio high tensile hot-rolled steel plate contg. specific elements under specific temp. conditions thereby working the same to a steel plate. CONSTITUTION:A steel slab contg. 0.03-0.15% C, 0.03-0.80% Si, 1-2% Mn, <0.020% P, <0.010% S, 0.010-0.10% solAl, <0.030% As+Sn+Sb, contg. >=1 kind of V, Ti, Zr, Nb, B at 0.001-0.15% or contg. >=1 kind of Cr, Ni, Mo, Cu at 0.01-1.50% is hot-rolled and is finish-rolled at temps. above the Ar3 point. This is coiled below the Ar1 point, and the coil is heated to 750-900 deg.C temps. in a heat treatment furnace, after which it is cooled down to 600-250 deg.C at 5-50 deg.C/ sec cooling rates from said temps. The resultant long yield ratio high tensile hot- rolled steel plate has superior longitudinal crack resistance and is suited as a material for automotive bodies.
