PURPOSE:To control the recorded density of picture elements at block end parts to a desired density and contrive higher quality, by energizing heat generating resistor elements at the block end parts for a predetermined period of time also in intervals between the actions of energization in a unit energization time, thereby compensating for the loss of heat due to radiation. CONSTITUTION:Heat generating resistor elements R193-R256 and R257-R320 in the vicinity of boundary between a first block and a second block are supplied with strobe signals ST1, ST2 from a strobe signal generating circuit 20 through terminals (a) on one side of switches 50, 52. While the first strobe signal ST1 is generated, the switch 50 is changed over to the side (a), whereas the switch 52 is changed over to the side (b), and a one-shot pulse SP with a predetermined duration is given from a one-shot circuit 22 to the elements R257-R320, resulting in energization. When the second strobe signal ST2 is generated, the switches 50, 52 are changed over to the opposite side.
