Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform intermediate tone recording with a simple circuit, by transferring white/black binary video signals to a plurality of drive circuits and controlling an applied energy from each heater to a heat sensing recording medium, in a facsimile device or the like. CONSTITUTION:A tone recording circuit 34 includes a reference signal generating circuit 31 and a data selector 32. This circuit 31 generates a reference signal ''0'' which is, e.g., at consecutive low potential, and reference signals ''1''-''7'' in which the respective pulse width is sequentially different and gives them to the data selector 32. To the data selector 32, a tone code signal in 3-bit is given from a tone code generator via an input terminal 11. This tone code signal corresponds to the tone level recorded with heaters 20a...20c and is generated repetitively with the period to the unit time. The selector 32 selects the corresponding reference signal based on the tone code signal in 3-bit and generates a binary signal in which it is at high potential for the period of the tone code to be given, and controls the applied energy to the heat sensing recording medium.
