Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient coercive force by specifying the range of an R2Fe14B phase and the presence of said phase in rare earth-iron-boron magnet powder and a range in which the surface of said phase is coated with a rich phase. CONSTITUTION:The abundance ratio of an R2Fe14B phase (a main phase) and an R-rich phase is brought to 60vol.%<the main phase<98vol.% and 2vol.%< the R-rich phase<40vol.%, the main phase is kept within the magnitude of a range from 0.3mum to 50mum, the main phase is made to exist in a single crystal at 50% or more of rare earth-iron-boron magnet powder, and 70% or more of the surface of the main phase is coated with the R-rich phase. Hydrogen is occluded only to the R-rich phase, and discharged and only the R-rich phase is crushed 1 and rare earth-iron-boron magnet powder, on the surface of the main phase of which the R-rich phase sufficiently exists, is formed. Accordingly, magnetic characteristics can be improved.
