Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a device and to shorten a detection time by observing a transmitted light image formed when illumination light passes through a bare optical fiber after being reflected by a reflecting mirror and a transmitted light image formed when the light is reflected by the reflecting mirror after passing through the bare optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Illumination light beam l1 and l2 in one direction different from the normal direction of bare optical fibers f1-f5 led out of a multicore optical fiber F and the reflecting mirror 1 installed on a plane parallel to the normal direction are used, and inspection is carried out by observing two transmitted light images, i.e., the transmitted light image X formed with the illumination light l1 passing through the bare optical fibers f1-f5 after being reflected by the reflecting mirror 1 and the transmitted light image Y with the illumination light l2 reflected by the reflecting mirror 1 after passing through the bare fibers f1-f5. In this constitution, the optical axes of the transmitted light images X and Y on a photodetection side become parallel and the two images are picked up closely; and the required moving distance of an image pickup device system is short, the device is reduced in size, and the detection time is shortened.
