CONSTITUTION:A junction temperature of a semiconductor element 11 for constituting a power converter is detected by a direct or indirect means, and in accordance with the deviation of this junction temperature, namely, an actual temperature value, and a temperature target value which is set separately, the rotational speed of a fan 14 for cooling this power converter is changed. In such a way, when a loss generated by the semiconductor element is large, and an ambient temperature is high, the fan rotates at high speed, but when the loss is small, or the ambient temperature is low, since a small quantity of cooling air is enough, the rotational speed of the fan 14 can be decreased, therefore, the level of a noise generated by the fan 14 can be lowered, and also, energy for driving the fan 14 can be decreased.
