Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a solid electrolytic capacitor which can be formed with a lead dioxide on a dielectric oxide film layer without using thermal decomposing reaction and without using a silver catalyst affecting adverse influence to capacitor performance and which has small loss coefficient and leakage current by contacting lead containing compound melted on the film layer and further forming a semiconductor layer by an electrochemical process. CONSTITUTION:After a lead-containing compound is melted on a dielectric oxide film layer to impregnate the film layer in a fine hole of an anode base with it, it is further formed by an electrochemical process. The electrochemical process means to oxidize the compound to lead dioxide by utilizing electrochemical reaction. For example, with an anode valve metal having the film layer as an anode, a constant voltage pulse voltage is applied or a constant current is supplied between it and an anode prepared separately to conduct the electrochemical process. According to this method, in case of forming a semiconductor layer, the film layer is not thermally cracked, and the compound of silver or the like is not adhered onto the film layer, not to cause decrease of insulation resistance.
