Abstract

PURPOSE:To constitute a data line of two superposed conductors so that the resistance of the data line is decreased by bringing a 2nd conductor into contact with the data line consisting of the 1st conductor without connecting the same to a scanning line, thereby forming a part of the data line. CONSTITUTION:A source 5 and drain 6 of a thin film transistor 3, a part of the data line 1, the 1st conductor 102 to form a picture element electrode 4, a two-layered film region 103 consisting of a semiconductor 103a laminated to have an equal plane shape and an insulator 103b on the semiconductor 103a, the scanning line 2 and the 2nd conductor 105 to form a part of the data line 1 are disposed on a substrate. The two-layered region 103 constitutes the active region of the thin film transistor 3 by connecting the source 5 and the drain 6 and insulates the intersected region 7 of the data line 1 and the scanning line 2. The 2nd conductor 105 exists between the source 5 and the drain 6 in partial superposition on the source 5 and the drain 6 to form the scanning line 2. Said conductor also forms a part of the data line 1 by coming into contact with the data line 1 constituted by the 1st conductor 102 in the state of not being connected to the 2nd scanning line 2. The resistance of the data line is thereby extremely decreased and the increase of the display area is enabled.
