Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide excellent light flux decay preventing effect by installing an alkali elution preventive film on inner wall surfaces of a valve, and by coating the film with a solution of organic metal compound followed by baking.
CONSTITUTION: An alkali elution preventive film 2 is provided on inner wall surfaces of a valve 1 and coated with a solution of organic metal compound such as metal alkoxide, followed by baking. Structure of this alkali elution preventive film 2 is not defined specifically, but a dielectric single ply film with high coefficient of refraction may be adopted in case the lamp used is of usual type, i.e. fluorescent lamp. As dielectric body with high coefficient of refraction to be used can be named metal oxide such as TiO2, CeO2, ZrO2, etc., or ZnS etc. This provides excellent light flux decay preventing effect.
