Abstract

PURPOSE:To acquire a variable resistor having a high voltage linear coefficient alpha, high capacity and low dielectric loss characteristics by combining a parallel ZnO varister and an SrTiO3 varister whose characteristics are different. CONSTITUTION:Ag electrode films 2 are formed on the both surfaces of a chip material 1a of ZnO varister and a chip material 1b of SrTiO3 capacitive variable resistor, spacing at one end opposing each other. Cu plate electrode 3 of a horizontal U-chaped cross section is soldered along an edge line of the space to form single plate chips 4a and 4b. Then a flat electrode film 2 except an external electrode 3 and the side surface are coated outside and chips 4a and 4b are lapped and electrodes 3 of side lines are soldered each other. After this, finish coating is applied except the electrode 3. According to this constitution, a composite varister of high efficiency having both characteristics of the two varisters can be acquired.
