Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled membrane for purification and separation, etc., without using a porosifying assistant, by controlling the spining and heat- treatment conditions to control the crystallinity and orientation of a hollow fiber produced by the melt-spinning of a thermoplastic polyester, etc., and drawing the fiber under a condition to effect the preferential drawing of only the amorphous part. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester or polyamide is subjected to melt- spinning at a spinning speed of >=500m/min and a draft of >=1,000 to obtain an undrawn hollow fiber having a wall thickness of <=100mum. The undrawn fiber is heat-treated in an inert gas at a temperature lower than the melting point of the polymer by 2-50 deg.C for >=1min to obtain an undrawn hollow fiber having a crystallinity of 25-50% and a long-period of >=100Angstrom calculated from small angle X-ray scattering pattern. The fiber is drawn by 4-40% at <=50 deg.C and subjected to single or multiple stage drawing at a temperature higher than the above drawing temperature by >=10 deg.C and lower than 80 deg.C at a total draw ratio of 20-400% to obtain the objective hollow fibrous membrane.
