Abstract

PURPOSE:To change a scanning direction without changing the positions of an object and a camera main body by switching horizontal and vertical shift registers in the both horizontal and vertical directions. CONSTITUTION:When clocks 41 and 42 outputted from a synchronizing signal generating circuit 38 are added respectively to a vertical shift register 34 and a horizontal shift register 35 through a switching circuit 40, a picture element is read in a horizontal direction in the order of 22 25 and 26 29. Next, when the switching circuit 40 is switched, the above-mentioned clock 41 is switched and supplied to the horizontal shift register 35 and the clock 42 is switched and supplied to the vertical shift register 34, the reading of the picture element comes to be a vertical direction in the order of 22 30 and 23 31. Thus, by controlling a clock pulse added to the shift registers 34 and 35, the scanning direction can be switched to the both horizontal and vertical directions.
