Abstract

PURPOSE:To make such a printing operation that is excellent in efficiency attainable, by automating each process in a paper feeding part of a printing press, and making out a total system for automation. CONSTITUTION:The information required for printing of the day is transferred from an upper processor 104 and thereby a feeding control processor 100 sets the number of pieces and size of the roll paper required for a paper feeding controller 105 in each rotary press. And, it feeds the roll paper to the rotary press side in a manner conformable to the result of paper splicing operation from this paper feeding controller 105. A paper storage control processor 101 controls the roll paper delivered, and corresponding to indication out of the paper feeding control processor 100, the roll paper is conveyed to a roll paper preparation floor from a storehouse. A roll paper preparation controller 102 performs paper splicing pre-treatment or the like for the existing in this preparation floor, making it assume a posture of standing by. A residual core recovery controller 103 automatically recovers residual cores of the roll paper fed to a printing press. The paper feeding control processor 100 performs the total control over the paper feeding.

Conventionally, each process involved manually processing a large roll of paper as described above, which was extremely inefficient and required a great deal of labor and time. Furthermore, there are cases in which a paper web of a size required during a printing operation is not on the circulation conveyor and must be urgently transported from storage, which often has an adverse effect on the progress of the printing operation.

In addition, information on the number of paper breaks in the printing section and the number of paper jams in the folding section for each roll of paper is sent from the printing section control device to the paper feed management CPU, and this information is collected to calculate the number of paper breaks in the printing section and the number of paper jams in the folding section. By obtaining separate quality information, highly efficient printing processing is now possible.

A paper feed management processor that receives and stores and manages the total number of rolls consumed by each paper feed section of a plurality of printing machines used in printing operations and information on each size thereof; and a paper feed management processor that stores and manages the information from the paper feed management processor. A paper storage management processor receives the information, selects the total number of paper rolls of each size necessary for printing operation from the paper roll storage, and controls the removal of the paper, and a paper roll preparation control device that organizes each of the paper rolls carried out by size and performs standby control. Under the control of the paper feed management processor, the waiting paper feed control processor requests the next roll of the same size in response to an automatic paper splicing operation. A web supply system for a printing press, characterized in that the web is conveyed to the printing press.
