Detailed Description of the Invention [Summary] The present invention uses a laser diode to solve the problem of oscillation wavelength stability, which is difficult with the conventional current-based light intensity modulation method, in optical communication. The light intensity can be modulated by causing the light emitted from the front surface to interfere with the light emitted from the rear surface or the light obtained by branching the light emitted from the front surface.

In step 2, the signal value is converted into a current by the signal/current converter 40, and the current is injected into the laser diode 10, which is a light source. As a result, laser beams 14 and 15 are emitted from the front and rear surfaces of the laser diode 10, but conventionally, only the laser beam 14 is used as an optical signal to be transmitted.

題がある。A conventional optical communication system employs a configuration in which a current injected into a laser diode 10, which is a light source, is modulated to modulate the intensity of the five light beams. Generally, the oscillation wavelength of a laser diode changes depending on temperature, injection current density, etc. Therefore, in the conventional light intensity modulation method as described above, there is a problem in that it is difficult to stabilize the two oscillation wavelengths with high precision.
