Abstract

PURPOSE:To sharply reduce the consumption amount of a ferric sulfate solution as compared with conventional one and to precipitate and separate arsenic in waste water within a short time, in treating arsenic-containing waste water, by adding the ferric sulfate solution to said waste water in the presence of ferrite fine particles to perform stirring. CONSTITUTION:In treating arsenic-containing waste water, ferrite fine particles are added to said waste water, for example, in an amount of about 5g per 1l of waste water and a ferric sulfate solution is further added to said waste water to perform stirring and the pH of the waste water is pref. adjusted to 3.0- 5.0 to precipitate and separate arsenic in the waste water within a short time. The consumption amount of the ferric sulfate solution is reduced to about 1/10 of the conventional amount used.

Detailed Description of the Invention (a) Technical Field The present invention relates to a method for treating arsenic-containing wastewater, and more specifically to a method for removing arsenic by reacting it with ferric sulfate in the presence of ferrite. It is.

(b) Background Art Conventionally, as a method for removing As in a liquid, a method of reacting with ferric ions and precipitating it as iron arsenate (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No.
9-162897), and a method in which an extraction solvent in which magnetic particles are dispersed and water to be treated are mixed using ultrasonic waves, and then magnetically separated (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 120547/1982).
In addition, various methods are known, such as a method in which the pH of wastewater is adjusted to alkaline by the presence of ferrous salt, and a ferrite reaction is carried out by mixing air etc. (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 1983-41270). .

However, since the method of using a commercially available ferric sulfate solution is generally expensive due to the cost of reagents, other methods have also been proposed in which ferrous ions in wastewater are oxidized to ferric iron by adding an oxidizing agent or using bacteria. However, in a treatment method simply adding a ferric sulfate solution, the equivalent ratio of ferric iron to arsenic is approximately 30 to 50.
In addition to having to react at twice the rate, the reaction time also took a long time.

(C) Disclosure of the Invention The present inventors have been diligently researching a method that can reduce the consumption of ferric sulfate solution to about 1/10 of the conventional amount and process it in a short time. They discovered that when ferric sulfate is added in the presence of fine particles, arsenic precipitates in a short period of time.

This makes it possible to significantly reduce the volume of the reaction vessel compared to conventional methods, and at the same time reduce the amount of ferric sulfate added compared to conventional methods.
It is possible to reduce the amount to about 100%.
