Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate a difference of the level of a silk printing boundary by applying silk printing to selected points of metal shaft material surface with epoxy ink enhance external appearance, and perform required plating to a portion except where printing is applied and finally a top coat all over the surface, thereby eliminating the generation of inferior products. CONSTITUTION:Color silk printing is applied with epoxy ink to part of the metal shaft material 1 surface and primary nickel or copper plating is applied to a portion except a silk printing layer 5. Further cold plating is applied to the surface of the primary plated layer 2 and finally a top coat is formed on the surface of the silk printed layer 5 and the secondary gold-plated layer 3. Thus a level difference caused by the thickness of ink on the surface of the metal shaft 1 is eliminated and subsequently, any causes for stripping, etc. by the catching of nail. At the same time, the quality of external appearance is improved. Also an overcoat is no longer required, resulting in decreased manhour and cost saving. Dust settlement is almost eliminated. In this way, the occurrence rate of rejects is reduced.

(Prior art) The general method of printing on the surface of a metal shaft of a conventional writing instrument is as follows:
Figure 2: As shown, metal shaft materials such as brass and iron (1
) After applying primary plating such as nickel plating or copper nickel plating, secondary plating such as gold plating is applied to the surface. A top coat is applied to the entire surface. In the figure, (2) shows the secondary plating layer, (3) the secondary plating layer, (4) the overcoat layer, (5) the silk printing layer, and (6) the top coat layer. The reason for applying an overcoat after plating is to prevent the silk printing ink from being immersed in the plating solution, but this requires two coats, which can easily attract dust and cause problems. The drawback was that high-quality bullock carts were expensive. In addition, when silk printing patterns, etc., as shown in Figure 2, the thickness of the ink creates a step (7) at the border, which not only impairs the aesthetic appearance, but also causes it to catch on nails and cause peeling. was.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) The present invention eliminates the level difference at the border of silk printing, improves the appearance quality, reduces the number of steps compared to conventional methods, and further reduces the incidence of defective products. The purpose is to provide a new printing method.

(Means for Solving the Problems) In order to achieve the above object, the present invention applies silk printing to required locations on the surface of a metal shaft material using epoxy ink, and then applies required plating to the areas other than the printed locations. give,
The present invention provides a method of printing on the surface of a metal shaft of a writing instrument or the like, which is characterized by applying a top coat to the entire surface.

(Function) In the present invention, epoxy-based ink is used for silk printing. C: The durability against plating solution is increased, so there is no need to apply an overcoat to separate the plating layer and silk printing ink, and silk printing Since the layer and the plating layer can be arranged adjacent to each other, it is possible to immerse the silk-printed layer in the same plane as the plating layer, and the difference in level caused by the thickness of the ink can be eliminated. Further, since overcoating of the plating layer is not required and only a top coat is required, the number of steps is reduced, and dust and the like are less likely to adhere, thereby reducing the incidence of defective products.
