Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce frictional loss in a floating caliper type parking disk brake by supporting a rotary shaft with mutual action of a pair of toggles to transmit the input from a parking lever to an adjuster screw. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 16 has one end fixed to a parking lever 6 and the other end inserted rotatably i a caliper rear arm 1a while being formed with recesses 16, 16b, in the symmetrical positions about its axis, spaced by eccentricities e respectively from the axis within the same section. On the other hand, an adjuster screw 4 is formedon the central portion of the end with a recess 4b opposed to the recess 16a and a first toggle 17 is interposed between both recesses. Also, the caliper rear arm 1a is formed with a recess 1b oppposed to the recess 16b, and a second toggle 18 is interposed between said both recesses. And by the utual action of a pair of the toggles 17, 18 is supported the rotary shaft 16 to transmit the input from the parking lever 6 to the adjuster screw 4.

Figures 1 and 2 show a conventional floating caliper type parking disc brake. In the figure, reference numeral 1 is the caliper body, and a piston 3 is slidably fitted into the cylinder 2 of the caliper's rear arm 1&, and its rotation is restrained by the engagement of the stopper 9 and the width across flats 4&. The adjuster screw 4 and the adjuster nut 5, which are allowed to rotate in only one direction by a one-way clutch spring 10, are screwed together and inserted with a large lead multi-thread screw.

At step 2, the disc 13 rotating together with the wheel is clamped to obtain the required braking force. At this time, if both pads 11.12 are worn out, the adjuster nut 5 rotates relative to the adjuster screw 4 and is screwed out, and the gap between the pads 11.12 and the disc 13 is automatically adjusted. The lever 6 is always operated in a constant manner.

The operation of the parking brake input mechanism configured as ζ will be explained. When the parking lever 6 is rotated by applying an external input in the direction of the arrow, the rotation shaft 16 rotates while the second toggle 1 engages with the recess 16b on the other side.
8 and guided by the width across flats 1e, the adjuster screw 4 is moved slightly to the left in the figure via the first tog /I/17.

In addition, the first toggle 17 itself, which engages with the recess 16a on one side of the rotating shaft, moves the adjuster screen 4 to the left in the figure as the rotating shaft 16 rotates, and the inner pad (not shown) and It works as a parking brake by squeezing the disc with the actuator. At this time, both toggles 17, 1
8 is gradually inclined as the rotating shaft 16 rotates, and the input from the parking lever 6 can be easily transmitted to the adjuster screw 4.

As can be understood from the above explanation, the input mechanism of the barking brake according to the present invention supports the rotating shaft through the interaction of a pair of toggles and transmits the input from the barking lever to the adjuster screw. Friction loss can be reduced, and the structure of the input mechanism for the bark brake can be simplified by eliminating the need for the conventional 21 dollar bearing that supports the rotating shaft.
